I have a 70-72 Mustang 9" rear under my 76 T/A. It is the same width as the original 10 bolt unit. Gives you another option to look for.

Thank you ken, the guy that builds all my buddy's drag car rear ends and built my 10 bolt keeps telling me just to let him build me a 12 bolt with spool said he can do some bracing and stuff to make it hold up and said will be alot cheaper, I just want whatever we put under car to hold up to my little stroker motor should make around 750-800hp at the flywheel I'd say, but thank you again for the useful information sir

I run a 9" in my 69 GTO. Works great but if I had to do it again I would go with a early BOP or a Dana 60. Strange makes one that is real light and having a bolt on cover at least has the "look" more like a stock unit.
Stronger than any 9" too.

the 10 bolt can be built pretty tough , even if you will run slicks, I plan on using my built 10 bolt in my 73 bird, even with the new 461 and a small shot of nitrous on slicks,

Also weight of vehicle and suspension ect ect cuz idc what anyone says a light car with more horsepower is not as rough on the drive line as a heavy car with less horsepower weight and getting it moving plays a big factor especially if ya get the car hooking

maybe Im just wishful thinking but I have seen 8.5 10 bolts on F bodies at the strip handling enormous amount of power for streetcars , for a drag car tha ONLY sees the strip and holeshots I would invest into a tougher rear.

I dont know what is your exact set up, but mine is a 73 esprit that weights about 3750 pounds , built Th350 and 3.08 gears. The engine is a 461 all forged , SD performance ported Iron heads (260 cfm) stump puller cam ( new profile), ported Ho intake and 800 cfm Qjet.

That should be just over 500hp and I add a 200hp shot of nitrous on top of this , I plan on using slicks on a prepped track. But my car is a street car that will only sees the strip about 40% of the time.

My diff has a Detroit Truetrac, 30 spline moser axles, 3,08 gears...

I have faith in a 8.5 10 bolt diff, just like I have faith in my built th350...
....but only time will tell...

See there's the difference mine is a 461ci 14:1 compression, ohio forged crank, eagle H-Beams with ARP 2000 bolts, JE flat tops, everything lightened to reduce rotating weight, comp solid roller 277/288@50 with 485/471 lobes crower soldid roller lifters with harland sharp 1.65's so is over .800" lift trend pushrod, 368cfm kauffman high ports, ported Victor intake to match heads, pro systems custom built dominator, ignition consist of msd pro billet distributor with crank trigger ran to msd power grid system, suspension is calvert 90/10's in front with QA1 upper and lower tubular control arms and santhuff springs, and rear is calvert 9 way adjustable shocks and Calvert split mono leafs with caltracs, believe its enough to break my little ole 10 bolt lol

Well, obviously your set up is not for street use, so like i said depending on the purpose of your ride, a 9inch or dana 60 would be the answer for durability at the track.

happy shopping!

Out of respect for the other members advertising here, let's not turn this 'parts wanted' ad into a discussion thread.

Thanks, your cooperation is appreciated.

Stick with your 9" option. Moser makes a nice unit and can be bought in pieces to your specs.
