source for 15/16" front sway bar bushings
Is there a source to get new front sway bar bushings for a 15/16" front sway bar that fit the original brackets? I ordered a set of Moog from Ames and they seem way too big to fit the brackets. they fit width wise but they a good 2 inches longer than the bracket and I have a hard time seeing them compress that much.

I could never find any and just cut down the Moog ones to fit.

I have the brackets that have a groove down the center and no flanged edges.
Rich what did you use to cut them down? |

I honestly don't remember exactly. Probably my Craftsman HandiCut.

I too ran into the same problem. Had to trim them down.

source for 15/16
Freeze them for a couple of days and then trim with the finest(greatest number of teeth per inch) hack saw blade you can find. Band saw would probably work also, but I did not have one. You will probably have to take some off the flat(top) end as well as the rounded(bottom) end. Any cut marks left over can be removed with a 120 grit then progressively finer flap sanding wheels. You wind up with about 1/4 inch of the flat(top) side protruding above the ears of the bracket, which is a "livable" amount that will compress when the bracket is tightened.

Why not upgrade to a 1 1/4" sway bar? Better handling with it... big improvement.

I actually have and was going to go with a 1 1/8 bar but it is my understanding the original brackets wont work with it and would have to drill holes in the frame to make it work. not sure if that is accurate but didn't know it makes that big of difference either

I went from a 7/8ths to the 1 1/4" sway bar and used the same brackets for the 1 1/4 bracket bushings. The hole in the bushing was the only difference. No problem using the same bracket again. Maybe there's a difference for 65 but I don't think so.
