Default Putting 455 together - Cam Plug in too far

I did the dumb thing.. I put the plug in before the cam. Searched and Read a few old posts AFTER CAM,, that this is a rookie mistake.

Front of Cam then wouldnt go in past the front block face.
It was hitting plug.
Was tempted to use cam to push it out but it was way too pretty..

Got a long 3/4 pipe, rolled it in thin foam packing sheet , put a 3/4 to 1' adapter on the end wrapped that in gaff tape and poped it out. Had to put motor back on hoist... to do so. Waste of time...

Got 2 (1 extra) 2 1/16 plugs, this time shallower brass plugs.

Put cam in, verified that flush would give me good clearance
Set it flush, Blue Locktite.

On to measuring main main bore clearances,

Ring gaps and smoothing piston tops with scothbrite and cleaning pre install.
Hope to get this thing together soon.

Lesson learned.
This site has taught me lots. Often I just learn in the wrong order..

Well thought out fix for a somewhat common mistake; well done, James .

Good stuff James. Sounds like we are going through the same process, except for the rear plug. I did the piston tops yesterday.
