Default wheel well molding challenges

taking them off my 67 for first time and its fighting me with every breath.
of course the first one I try works OK until the last screw that strips out and
cant access the backside to help it out.
Solution was to cut a slot in the screw, without hitting 1/4 or wheel well trim.
I used my multitool with a Milwaukee cutter .
I could then use the slot to chisel it counterclockwise.
This was the first wheel(right rear) and on doing the rest,I noticed the screws had a different head on the RR than the other 3.I doubt it was ever changed,so chalk it up to production variations.

The one on the left (pic#3) is the type I am familiar with.

My guys used to call them "B96* Nails".

If they hit torque without fully seating they would take a hammer and smash 'em down to make the repair.

K

* B96 is the RPO for the wheel opening moldings.

yea Ive never seen the washerless ones used either but they are the same size, self drilling,so
fit and function is 100%.
Im very tempted to find some screws just like the oddballs and put it back the way it came apart.

production variances, reminds me of the one I took apart almost 50 yrs ago that had an oval bushed A frame
on one side and a round one on the other side
