Kurt,
I would guess( never having done it) that it take a lot of concentration and attention to detail to de nib a freshly painted car. Is there a tool you use or just fine grit sandpaper? |

Thanks for asking. What to use on a freshly painted and clear coated job is a razor blade held horizontal to the Nib, pull towards you, listening to the blade cutting the high point and leaving a smooth result. Then use a De Nibbing block to work the clear at a diagonal both right and left until you no longer see the Nib or it's ring around it. After the location is De Nibbed, hand sand the complete area with 1000 Grit, then 1500 Grit. Then use a cutting compound with a buffer wheel and finish with a finishing pad and finishing compound.

Spent yesterday finishing the Color Sand/Buffing for the final time on "Blu BiYu"...
I will need to put a finish polish on her with the buffer and then will use Wizards Mist-N-Shine Detailer from then on!... No new wheels and tires yet....still have the front header, valance, and bumper to install....THEN COMES THE GRAND FINALE!...

Gets better and better! You must be feeling really good! I'd love to be driving behind you. What a beautiful distraction that would be! |

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am! Every time I fire her up, I have to get out of the car and look and listen to her from the back....She simply screams GTO to me.... And not to mention putting on her Torque Thrust D and her BFG Radial TA tires....THAT will be the icing on the cake.....

BFG's may look nice, but have as much grip as icing.

Final Approach!
"Blu BiYu" is readying herself for her Final Approach!.....
Down to the last of many parts installed on this restoration!....Just a handful... With her chrome nose, NOS front bumper, freshly painted header along with the valance and chin spoiler, She is going to stand out from the crowd on such a sunny day!...

She's been a long time comin'....The look of the front end is a big reason I bought her. I thought she resembled a 1970 Chevelle....somewhat!...Not to mention, I am a chrome type of a guy...

Made good progress in the car world imo. Almost two years to the day; January 2017 - January 2019... All Pontiac front end though, very distinctive. |

Of all my photos of "Blu BiYu" taken in the last few months, these four get me the most excited...Her front, interior, rear end...and yes the last is so special...Steve Meacham asked Clint Minglin just WHEN his father-in-law was going to install her new wheels and tires...Steve...your wait is over!.....WELL....how do they look?

Kurt,
Your car looks awesome( especially the bumpers and fitment). Again, the tuxedo interior with the blue paint make me want to change to a tuxedo interior. Something wrong with the last photo; unable to view the new wheel/ tires! |
