Default Check Out This Pontiac G8 GT in Ignition Orange

Thought I would post some pictures of the G8 I have on-order. These were lifted from the on-line article that MotorTrend just did. Sweet car. I draw your attention to the smoke rising from both REAR tires...

Oh man, I'm jealous! Is it going to be one of the first 888?

Pat:
I wish it was, but since I have ordered it through Enterprise Fleet Leasing, they were not eligible to draw from the first 888 - only dealers were allowed to tag those cars.

Very nice! Looks like a great car. Are they available for driving yet? If so have you driven one yet?

Hey Mike:
Not yet. They are supposed to hit the dealers' showrooms first of March. Pontiac has said that they hope to have about 7000 produced and in the showrooms by end of March. Enterprise is still quoting me an April to May delivery, but they are trying to tag a vehicle matching my order that has already been produced and on a boat. So, I may be able to take an earlier delivery.

Damn that's sweet. If they had a third pedal, I'd be interested.

I hear ya! They tease us with all of the possible variations and then only offer it one way. I was hoping for the G8 GT Sportwagon with a six speed (a real one with a clutch!) to be my wifes next car. Then they say no wagon, but we will get the Ute? WTF? Anyhow, was still hoping to get the GT with the manual tranny. Now they say no manual until 2009? I can't wait that long.

The car looks nice, just wish I could get one equipped the way I want it.

Default G8

That is so nice. I wish they would come out sooner. I don't know if I can wait my wifes 330CI has got to go. GM seems to be getting a clue. I drove a SS Trailblazer yesterday and it will smoke the tires and handles great.

A 6-speed manual is definitely going to be available in the 2009 model year and there will also be a GXP model available that is rumored to have a higher tuned version of the 6.0L V8 - 400 plus HP????? As Scott would say...SWEEEEEEET!

There is no consumer reports on them yet, because they aren't available for sale yet.

Very nice, instant gratification. You will enjoy it.

Personally, though, I'll hold out for the manual GXP.

How much fun would it be to drop some stealth performance mods into a G8 GXP and then sneak up on an unsuspecting mid-life-crisis-50-something tax-attorney-wannabe-race-car-driver in a base model C5 Vette at a stop light and just ROAST them. It makes me giggle just THINKING about it.

I might be niterested if two requirements were fulfilled:

-"third pedal"
-loose the two "extra" doors

I still don't understand why the G6-6spd car is NLA... I tried looking into one around the begining of the current model year to find it had been queitly dropped with no explination...

GM still sucks (especially since they didn't make the GTO's available to Canadians; we can't even import them!).

Congrats, very much looking forward to their arrival. You may want to check out g8board.com, go fast parts already available! I currently have a TBSS and will probably be trading it in on a G8 in 09 when the GXP will be available.
