I have a 70 GTO with a 400 engine and the rear main seal is leaking. What is the best way to fix? Is there a different type of seal other than the rope seal?

Thanks

Hate to say it but to do it right, pull the engine and pull the crank. Do it right the first time is the best way. Just finished my motor and I did the seal while she was out. H ere's a pic;

Yes, finally there is an alternative to the leak prone rope seals. BOP Engineering makes a beautiful viton seal that works great. In my opinion, its the only way to go.
