It could affect flame travel through the combustion area. But the dimples essentially create a dished piston. Decreasing compression ratio decreases power at every point. Unless compression is increased, to compensate for the dimples, power would go down in my opinion.

Think the dimpling would combat detonation?

LS1 had zero valve reliefs, while the jobber
Pontiac pistons had eight of 'em. World's
best kept speed secret?

NOPE.

A lot more important how you introduce the fuel and air into the combustion chamber. (Think Swirl and Tumble) vs all of these "do nothing" piston tricks.

I did the job for a living at one point in Research. Let the bashing begin.

No need to bash. I just want to emphasize that the fuel atomization seems to matter for both HP and detonation. I'm Just not clear on attaining increased HP and reduced detonation(ping) for an optimized atomization.

The photo in post 18 shows dimples in the port , not the chamber of what looks to be a Hemi head.

So just how the hell would that lower the compression

Dimples in the port do not affect compression ratio. The initial picture shows dimples in the piston top. That absolutely affects compression ratio.
