Dyno Day
Tomorrow it's going on the dyno. Not sure if he will have time to run it in or do any pulls until later but the time is near.
Here are the details: 468 cid Edelbrock 87 cc D ports (unported, but cleaned up) 9.94 CR Butler/CC Hyd roller 236/242 @ .050, 520/540, 112 lsa 1.5 rockers factory intake Calibrated 750 cfm Qjet by Ray Klemm For the exhaust, we're gonna do some pulls with a set of headers, then with RA manifolds that have 2.3125" collectors to 2.5" Pypes down tubes. It would have been great to have a set of 2.5" manifolds but apparently that's not gonna happen. If anyone wants to make a guess at numbers, I'd love to hear what you think!

Looking forward to this one! Similar cubes, same cam and carb. Big difference is the higher compression and aluminum heads but it should give me a ballpark for my build.

I'm going a little higher than others and say 500 HP and 575 torque when using the headers

Again, as mentioned before, don't let your dyno operator stop the pulls short of where the combo makes peak power !

425 hp at 5252 rpm. All you hp prognasticators must have an rpm tied to your prognastication, otherwise invalid.

Boy, that's being pretty stingy with the ponies. Not even 1 hp per cid?? LOL.
I'm gonna say 485/550 with manifolds and 500/565 with headers. Also, I don't know anything about the dyno, whether it's generous or not.

From going and viewing what those heads your running flow out of the box at your .520” lift, your motor could make 510 Hp, but that stock intake will keep you well below that, especially with a cam which has under 252 duration@ .050”.

When I originally posted up my combo people were saying I was gonna be over 500 hp easy, which was probably a little more than I was looking for. But, I was worried that if I did things to tone it down like keeping iron heads, smaller cam, less stroke, etc, that I my end up with very little gain for all the effort. So I went with the stuff I have because I felt like a little too much would be better than too little. So if I end up in the 475 hp range that would be pretty close to what I wanted in the first place.

I would agree, if the OP made 475 he would be doing very well, and if it where my motor I would be happy with such!
At least he knows well in advance that down the road if he needs or wants such a easy thing as a intake manifold up grade can likely pick him up 15 or so Hp even if the motor was breathing thru exh manifolds.

Stock intake will do over 500. I've done that, with ra exhaust manifolds in place. I used a 239 @.050 cam, only just a hair bigger than yours.
With ra manifolds and stock intake I see no reason you can't make 480hp and 560 tq |

If it doesn't make 500hp/560-580 torque something is amiss someplace.
I've built and dyno'd several nearly identical builds and they all came in close to 500hp or a little higher. Here is a dyno run from a customer of mine's 455 with foctory iron heads and the same cam you are using.
