Default Alternate engine 1987 (maybe 1988) TA

Some History: A previous Non Pontiac Engine 1987/1988 Pontiac Trans Am Bonneville Record Holder.

Since the forum now allows an Alternate engine in the Forums I thought I would post a bit of history
on the 1987/1988 Pontiac Trans Am that ran in 2001 at Bonneville (as a gasoline powered "STREET CAR"as well as a link.

Here is the link. https://official.bankspower.com/magazine/salt-shaker/

1987/1988 Chebby Big Block Powered, Twin Turbo, Inter-cooled Trans Am.

Here is another article, Car and Driver magazine, when Banks ran on Mrs Harcutt's driveway near Barstow, Ca.
I later did some company testing on that same driveway.

https://official.bankspower.com/maga...uper-trans-am/

In both cases the car was run on pure gasoline, (no spray, no alcohol, no
Nitro.)

Tom V.

ps Banks held the street car record for over 10 years.

I remember reading about this car as a kid. If I not mistaken that body style is one of if not the most aerodynamic produced at the time

The "aero package" was quite good and your memory is also "spot-on"

Nothing wrong with a big block Chevy, especially in a car that came with a small block Chevy anyway.

Those GTAs are definitely a good platform to build race cars off of.
