Default So It Starts - 1970 GTO Resto Pics

Well, picked this up 3 yrs ago, knowing it was pieced together poorly. (even under that snazzy paint) Originally Baja Gold/Brown Top- Sandlewood Interior.

Had an idea since it was 100% NON original in the first place- to do it how I liked. And collected parts and pieces the past 3 years..... End Goal: Polar White, Black Interior (which came with the car) Poverty Caps (and maybe a back up set of rally 2's) With "GTO 455HO" Decals. Nothing overly flashy

Went from a 400 - now a fresh 469.

Replaced a Drivers side Repro fender with Original.

Lower patch on Original Pass side fender.

New front Valance. Original Spoiler replaced an aftermarket One. Great deal on an NOS rear bumper.

Luckily, a local gentleman I have known for a long time...who usually does NHRA Pro Stock Cars, Hot Rods and the like took a shine to the car and is doing the bodywork and paint - I am going to tackle the interior.

July 1 the body work got started and he's come a long way so far. My Goal- to have it 100% done by July 4 2015.

And the first people to drive it when done will be my 80 Yr old dad and 77 yr Old mom who BOTH are Pontiac Lovers. Owning everything from Star Chiefs, Catalinas, Lemans, GTO's since 1955.

May look like a mess to some- but it's looking good to me ! Enjoy... will add some more pics..

White 70 GTO with a Spoiler and Black interior makes a sharp car.
Friend of mine had one dressed like that in the 80's.
Started out Pali Green with Green interior.

Good Luck and good wishes on making the date .

In first coat of primer August 3rd. BEST news, Found an original hood less than 3 hrs from my home, which had been off a 70 GTO since 1975. Surface oxidation, but no warps twists or rust..... took a year to find one near me !

Default Update Aug 25th

Test fit of front end, hood & Gaps all around look good.

Got lucky on the Hood...found one in Indiana and well worth the trip!! Clean Factory original sitting for 3 decades & just needed a little filler.

Final primer and sealer this week. Polar White Coming soon !

I guess it all evens out. My 70 is now white but I am leaning towards going Orbit Orange with the Judge stripes but stick with regular GTO stickers. Kind of EXACTLY like yours use to be lol. Looking good BTW

Haven't updated in a bit, But the first part of October...all paint and bodywork done !

Have the front & rear valance to install... Test fit on both went well pre and post paint. 2 Stage Polar white really is BRIGHT.... and Love it.

The Endura nose looks fantastic, as I had a great example to start with.

Couldn't be happier with the process. Is it Barrett Jackson perfect? Nope. Wasn't meant to be. The major metal repairs were done correctly - weld and metal, weld and metal grind and weld..etc etc. And yes...It has filler in a couple areas and done properly.

Now on to the interior
