Here's one, this past weekend, I snapped and couldn't take waiting anymore so I dug it out of the snowbank and took it for a fish-tailing slush blast around town to stretch it's legs a bit. This winter just won't end!

When I finally got my 1971 GT-37 running the roads were all snow covered. I could not even get on it at all. I really wanted to see what it would do. Now I sold the engine so the car is not driveable again.

Here’s what I call “beauty and the beast”. The ’71 LeMans Sport (350 2bbl) was my very first car – bought it while in high school, 1983. I really wanted a ’71 GTO and had found one, but I just didn’t have the coin for it. The LeMans was less than half the price of the GTO, so home it came. I ran that car year ‘round, through college, and as a daily driver until 2007. Upstate New York winters gave it a severe beating, but I didn’t have a choice. With a set of snow tires and some weight in the trunk, it was unstoppable. Always had some mechanical project to do to keep it going. Original color was “Limekist” green, before it oxidized into oblivion! The picture shows the center portion of the vinyl roof gone (Mohawk-style!) and the snow tires with Oldsmobile hubcaps. I suspect it was jealous of the H.O. because it mysteriously started having problems as soon as I brought the 455 car home! A local body shop technician bought the LeMans and said he was going to restore it. Haven’t seen it since.
Truth be told, I like the T-37 / LeMans styling better than the GTO, but there’s nothing like a roundport drivetrain! As such, my “grail” Pontiac would have to be: ’71 T-37 post, Nordic Silver with black int, 455 H.O. w/ M22, and minimal options. In my book, PY’s own Jack P is a genius for ordering this exact car, NEW!! You out there, Jack?!

I am here. I don't have a GT but here are some old pics of the T.
Thanks for the compliment. I'll try to make the larger and redo them.

Only one really squirley run of 14.14 @ 104. Still won by 5 car lengths. Second one misses second, floated the valves and still ran 15 @ 99.7.
Beat several cars with it on the street. With a little practice felt it would have run low 13's. Wrong cam it had an 066 cam not correct 068. Putting it back together with right parts and figure with larger exhaust should put it easily in the 12's at about 108-110. Dan's car runs quicker than that but with stick don't think I can get it that quick.

Scares me...thinking about the wind blowing that hood over into the wicked looking hood hinge sticking up on that right front fender...and those poor headlights with their rings all popped out like that...it takes a real sicko to do that to a car...we're dealing with a twisted, serial-dismantler here folks!

Do a search here for it. There is a long thread about it as the owner is a PY member.

Looks like a great ride, but I've got to believe it required a lot of maintenance...the car not quite as much.
