There weren't any GT-37s built on the coupe bodystyle in 1971. They were all hardtops.

What UPC WU2 said. Coupe was in brochure but mirror interfered with wing window or maybe wing window interfered with mirror. The mirror was an add on in '71. HT, Conv and sedan door skin should be the same. It is the frame on the sedan that is different.

"The GT-37 option was available on two-door coupe and two-door hardtop." from GTOalley.com

There is so much conflicting information on the internet about this.

The quote I was refering to from GTOalley.com

"The 1971 Pontiac catalog shows three T-37 2 door hardtops, coupe and 4 door sedan. The catalog says "order one of these with a V-8 on either the coupe or hardtop coupe and you can turn your T-37 into a GT-37".

So the things I know. My car is a 71 coupe 2 door it has a factory 350/350 in it with a 2 barrel carb. the car flies T-37 flags. The vin is 233 27. 233 is for T-37 27 is for 2 door coupe.

I was just curious, based on the information found on GTO alley, if my car is a GT-37. According to what I read on the GTOalley.com site it should be but it flies T-37 badging.

Just a bit confused

thanks

Sometimes advertising is not entirely correct.

And GTO Alley is a crappy website anyway.

I just don't understand the mirror issue. It certainly does not explain *why* the GT-37 wasn't available as a coupe.

that's true so is it also correct that the 71 GT-37's had hood pins? I don't believe half the crap I read on GTO Alley. It does state it in the advertisement but it may not be entirely correct however I know my car had a side mirror and it has the wing windows as well

GTO Alley is wrong. There were no '71 GT-37 post cars. I have the original Pontiac brochure that shows one. Then never made them as per the problem with the wing window and the sport mirror.

I ordered my T-37 new. I was not interested in the GT package.
The GT package consisted of the following on any 2 dr ht T-37 when ordered with ANY V-8 engine.
Hood pins
Dual Exhausts w/chrome tips coming through valance panel
GT identification on fenders and trunk
Ralley II rims w/o trim rings
G-70 X 14 raised white letter tires
HD 3 speed trans w/hurst shifter
Stripe package

My catalog shows a sedan T-37 w/stripes and wrong tires but leaves out the coupe statement. it says "Order one of these V-8's in the haedtop coupe and you can turn your T-37 into a GT-37" This is a later '71 dealer brochure.

Suggest you go back and read ALL of the T-37 and GT-37 threads by doing a search here to get more information. This has been hashed out in the past. I think I did give the links earlier in this thread.

In another ad it talks about the coupe. This brochure is dated 8/70 for the '71

All I know is you couldn't get the GT-37 in the sedan.

Do you have your PHS documentation?

This would be the way to determine if your car was ordered with the GT-37 option. Just because the T-37 had an optional v8 doesn't automatically make it a GT-37. In fact, if you checked off the GT-37 option you were required to select a v8 engine. But if your T-37 only had an optional v8, it's still a T-37. Not that there is anything wrong with a T-37

What gloryrestoparts said. The GT was an option and was not automatic when a V-8 was ordered in a 2 dr ht. Mine is a T-37 and is NOT A GT. I didn't want the flash I just wanted the go.

Here is a '70 w/400, auto and A/C for sale in the Sacramento CA Craigslist. I've posted the pics of this car from the ad so when the Craigslist link expires, we will still be able to reference the photos.

A '71 w/350 4spd on Detroit MI Craigslist. Probably an early '71 model with the eyebrow stripes since the GT-37 emblems are on the front fenders

I seen that one too! Looks to have a very plain seat material.

Just looked at GTO Alley about the GT-37. They mixed '70 and '71 together. Also the ad at the bottom of the page is one I posted here (I think or somewhere) several years ago and it states HT only. It is a '71 ad.

Sent them a message to try to straighten them out. We'll see if they do anything.

They won't do a thing, I bet - that site has been on cruise control for years.

I saw it as a source for reference for a GTO buyer's guide a few months ago. I almost lost my lunch.
