I wouldn't take that much for the unrestored/in pieces T-37.

I agree, that this car was a unwittingly put in the bargan basement and should have been on the top shelf. Just a good cleaning would have done wonder as far as asthetics go. Obviously did not know what they had.

Wonder if it will be back on e-bay in the next year?

Jeff, Great to meet you as well, nice to put a face to a voice and fellow PYer.

I took 68BirdHO post to imply that a vert was only bringing 19K so a HT would be less $$. Hence my post. Nothing against 68Bird, just pointing out a few items as to why it sold for cheap, IMO.

Here are a few stats on 455 HO Lemans built in 1972.

There were ONLY 102 TOTAL Lemans' built with a 455 HO engine. Of those 102:

21 were Lemans GT's
81 were Lemans

Of the 21 GT's:

14 were HT (10 M22, 4 M40)
7 were convert (2 M22, 5 M40)

Of the 81 Lemans' built:

9 were Coupes (5 M22, 4 M40)
26 were Convert (No breakdown due to the fact Pontiac did not keep track of 3spd vs 4spd)
46 were HT (No breakdown)

Not sure on the 71 numbers, I haven't crunched those like I have with the 72's.

I certainly wouldn't take 19K for my 1 of 46 built 455 HO Lucy blue 4spd Lemans optioned with over 25 build sheet options including EVERY option in the WW5 GTO only option package. I would hope it would bring more than 19K, but it is only worth what someone is willing to pay!

Jeez, did I take beating. I too agree that this car was stolen, which really surprised me. I thought this car would see mid-30s. I do agree that the color and advertising hurt it some. However, there were plenty of heavy hitters on this board that knew about this one and NO-ONE stepped up. I think the economy also has a lot to do with why this car didn't do what it should have, hence, my comment on what a similar hardtop could be stolen for now.

BTW, I like the idea plain Lemans front-end wrapped around a 455HO. What a sleeper.

Forrest,
Yours has to be the most beautiful of all the '72's I have seen.

Only 123 HO A bodies in '71. I have the break down somewhere from Dan Jensen just have to find it.

Pat, please don't take it as a neg...I did not step up on it either. I was tempted too! But, I was weighing the money towards a current project vs new project. Forrest's and Jeff's 72 LeMans cars was one reason not to jump on this car, that although rare there are nicer HO verts out there.

No no! I never took anything as negative and that is also why I wanted to clairify my point because I didn't want 68birdHO to take my post as a negative to what he posted. I see your point clearer now bird, I meant no disrespect. Let's just hold hands and sing cum by yah It's all good.

No negativity taken here either. Yes there are nicer HOs out there (color, options) but not many virgin metal roundport 4-spd converts at all. As rare as this one was, I think I would still prefer the lightweight hardtop non-AC bare bones flavor, with poverty caps of course. I do love Dan Jensens T-37, if only it was a 4-speed. Anyway.... cum-by-yah......cum-by-yah............

I've ridden in Forrest's car and it is wicked fast! You feel every one of those 450 HP when he let's the beast loose!

Oh Jack, that looks sweet!!! Is that a post-coupe car too? I would love to see some better pictures of it. The silver looks great too. It reminds me of that silver 400 4-speed T-37 that another boardmember did beautiful resto on. I think it was in HPP last year.

Okay. Here you go. The photos are poor though. It still wears all of its original paint and has no rust at all in the body panels. Only 31,000 original miles. The silver band along the bottom was a wonderful add on done by the original owner with a spray can back in the day. What a Goof! He did take pretty good care of the car though. The black stuff running down this silver band is actually undercoating oozing through the weep holes in the doors. The car really needs to have Rally II's put back on it (I have a set of 15" KR's and Godyear Polyglasses ready to mount) as well as a new top. This 72 is factory equipped with the 455 H.O., M-22 4 speed, no console, Safe-T-Track 3:55 posi rear, body colored sport mirrors, P.B., P.S., Formula wheel, power windows, in dash tach/gauges, unitized ignition, Ram Air Inlet w/ Endura option, under hood lamp, dual exhaust, white letter tires, tinted glass, firm springs and shocks, luggage lamp, glove box lamp, HD Radiator, and radio delete plate still in place! This car also has the rear "FAT" sway bar as found on the Y-99 cars but was supposedly not available on convertibles. It is a day one bar for sure. The car was bought new at Dan Wolf Pontiac in LaGrange, IL and has EVERY piece of paper work including the thank you letters from the salesman. A time capsule for sure!

Ditto - very nice ride. What is that behind the side marker/turn signal lamps - is that the 455 Call Out? I'd love to see a close up of that if you have it.

Default 1972 455 H.O. 4 speed Convert.

Thanks guys. The original owner was a bit different to say the least. He removed the 455 die cast emblems on the fenders immdiately upon delivery (yes, I still have them) in order to hide the fact that the car was a 455 H.O. car. He then covered the holes with reflective tape. He even put a 3 speed shifter ball on the car to disguise the M-22 4 speed.
