The seller's got no clue what that car is. he finally responded to me with the statement to caller the owners at the number in the ad.

It looks like a nice enough car to me.

The pre heat shroud is a bent sheet metal and not molded/stamped unit which indicates its HO roots.
Sorry, I have only seen 1 non RA 455 HO and it had the decal. Can not say if it was orignal or added later on.

I had a 455HO formula that had been crunched that I turned another firebird into a clone with back in '87. The original car had 40K miles on it, and no 455HO decal on lid. Someone had cut the scoops open, then realized they didn't have all they needed to make it a functional Ramair car, but that was all that really had been done to effect the originality of the car. I put an HO decal on the aircleaner though, they're pretty cool...DW

Default Seems Legit!

Wow, everyone's real quiet on this one. Without running the PHS, the car seems legit. I had her check all the numbers and they are all there! Assuming it is what it is, what is it worth everyone?????

There is a reason why it is quiet - the calm before the storm!

What's it worth - I guess we will see shortly. Should be fun to watch this one end.

Great talking to you yesterday too, Paul. The Milwaukee show was nice and perfect weather. As far as my checkbook, it is already hurting with house projects, daily vehicles, and the TA. I will be nothing more than a spectator. Your Lemans Sport 455 car is really cool, too. Good luck with the sale.

What numbers did you get? I see they listed the carb # and it looks legit for an HO non RA.

Wasn't the VIN listed before? The block/trans numbers are listed now, why remove the VIN from listing? This will be interesting!

My bad it is there right in front of my nose!

I was hoping this thread would die but I think the price is going to be out of my budget now. Anyone call to see what the reserve was? Seller has to have a clue that there may be something special about the car.

By the bid history I would say they are trying to get as much as possible, everytime somebody bids, e***e{(0 feedback), all bids with this seller} bids it one notch higher. But if I had owned it, the auction would have been jam packed with as many facts as we know about 455HO verts, along with part numbers off of everything...That appears to be a true virgin. Too bad about the color, if it was Lucerne blue, or one of the other disireables it would probably be sitting at double that already..DW

Not sure the owners/sellers knew much about what an "HO" was before the auction. They knew it is a 455/4 speed conv. Now they are probably very educated from phone calls/research what they got on their hands. This auction would have ended long ago if they didn't.

Now, it will be watch the price climb despite color, missing a few key options, and a bad interior remodel.

What it does have is a killer dayone drivetrain, including dayone M-22 4-speed, dayone carb, distr, and all the dayone HO components intact. All setting in a solid dayone conv body!

Is that the heat riser on the passenger side with duct tape on the elbow?

Damn if that doesn't look legit!

Yes the color and A/C might be holding the price down a bit but weigh that with a "1 of 17" car. I do not even know of another 71 HO ragtop Lemans, maybe one of you guys do.

Wonder what they pulled with that trailer hitch?.....small boat or an airstream ?

Check this one out: http://ultimategto.com/cgi-bin/showc...971/71_00162_1

Scroll and see this guys collection of nice 71 LeMans verts, and a 71 GTO HO HT for grins.
The White HO vert 4 speed was on ebay a few years ago, and the seller couldn't get over 20k!
