That sure is some nice Cali sheetmetal!

(Leave off the side moldings!)

Just a paint job? No metal work needed? I missed the eBay pics. What are your resto plans?

Mike - the hope is to debut the car in Wichita.

Drew - not much metal work needed, just some around the rear window/package tray.

Chris - oh yeah, no body side moldings going back on. That's the only option not being " restored"

I'm going for survivor car with one repaint. All door jambs and under hood/trunk are left untouched, original paint. Those will show original factory overspray and paint runs!

Car is incredibly solid, will have all original OEM equipment in place as it left the factory. Only new items will be headliner, carpet and rear package tray. I need to track down some pewter carpet, or something close so I can dye it the correct color. I am finishing up my bucket seats now, using original pewter from donor seats from 4slash6 and my originals. I took in all 4 covers to be sewn up and came back with two nice original seat covers.

Steve Schappaugh in Lincoln is doing the body/paint. I can't wait!

Here's a before pic, as I dropped her off.

Very nice to see you making this kind of progress Pat. Will have to come down to the convention to see it in person! Keep up the good work.

Lyn.

Hey Pat - if you are going to re-install the rear bumper guards, I've got an NOS pair if you need 'em.

Lemme know, my friend . . .

Thanks Lloyd! I already have an NOS set ready to go back on. Bumper will be rechromed, but not the show chrome...more like the original factory chrome.

Yeah, he is gonna recreate the waviness in the paint in a couple spots like what was done at the factory too. He will blend the paint into the factory jambs. The jambs and under hood/trunk areas are so nice on this car.

Here's another teaser

Thumbs up OK...

show of hands. How many folks here WISH they started with a project in this shape? If you don't come out ahead on this one....find another hobby! BTW...'72's are some of the best A-bodies ever produced...and I was told that by none other than John Sawruk...but what did he know...right? Enjoy that beast!

Ron, you are correct on starting with A solid a body to just add the paint too... Just to have the seams and welds and all that stuff survive with straight panels is sweet!

BTW: My 71 GT-37 was described to me from the guy who did work at Darrell's shop as the best body they had in their shop and they specilize in A body cars.

PB car looks even cleaner than mine, and I would agree with JS too!
