Lloyd,

I've got three T-41 convertibles.

I've got an orange 72 convertible with white/black interior. It was a fairly well optioned 350-2V car, but I installed a 455/TH400 in it. I've owned it since 1986, but it's been in storage since 1990. The body on that car is excellent.

I didn't exactly get a steal on the blue 350 car. I've got about $7K in it, and I purchased it about four years ago. If you've priced NOS convertible quarter panels, you know how expensive they are, so I opted to buy a complete car. The body on it is excellent as well. The only rust I can find on the entire car is a few bubbles on one corner of the trunk lid. It is as solid and rust-free as it appears.

The 455HO car had front end sheet metal damage, and rust in the rear quarters. It is a major project.

Mike

1970 Lemans Sport 400 4-speed, posi. Purchased from original owner ~ 3 years ago with full documentation since dealer purchase. [EDIT] ONE repaint in '95, original Pepper Green. Runs great with 167K original, but likes a blend of race gas to deal with the high compression.

Engine has never been out of car, neither have heads or intake exhaust manifolds. Only major replacement part was timing chain housing/cover. I recently replaced the original 14'' steel wheels and hubcaps with '80 TA turbo wheels w/245 and 275 TAs front and back.

Plain 70 Lemans 2 dr. post. Bought 2 years ago in August. Driven it 12 miles. Body now off frame stripped waiting for paint. Frame painted and 80% finished. Pic of before and current state. Hope to drive it again next year. Going for the retro street sleeper look, I hope.

Tom,

On your 70 - did you get the #12 heads on that motor?

Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing!

12's they are. This sound terrible, but I'd never check head casting #s on this car, although I did verify the block/VIN match. PLus, I live in a fairly small town and "trailed" this car for 10+ years, and actually worked with the original owners husband (yep, lady owned all its life before I got it), so I knew they weren't BS'ing me about originality when I bought it.

BTW, she (original owner) was some sort of mfg. rep, and ordered and picked up the car in Rhode Island, and for 2 years frequently (1X /week) drove to Texas and back, until they moved to CA. Cool times!

Great GT-37. I guess that dismisses the myth that only post cars were built in '70. Not sure I have seen another one.
