What exactly is recurving the distributor?
Why recurve the distributor? Is there a "best way" to recurve the distributor for a Pontiac 455? What else should we know? Enquiring minds want to know! |

1. Recurving changes the amount and rate of mechanical advance. Factory curves bring in the advance too slow and usually have to much. (advance)
2. Better performance. 3. Send the distributor to someone with a curve machine along with your engine specs and application. If the stockmarket crashes and no one is at work to see it, did it really crash ?

milt shornack (sp)? does it. you can ups it to him and he can rebuild it for you and curv it at the same time. i would think about a petronics electronic ign when you do it. it still uses the same cap and you can not tell it is not factory and it will run well like this. i don't have any info on milt but if you ask or do a search you will find him.
Don some times when you race with squirrel's, you get your nut's cracked!

I had Milt Schornack do a rebuild and recurve along with adding a Pertronix ignition kit to my distributor. Distributor came back looking like new and there was a "noticeable" difference in performance. I feel it was well worth the approximate $250.
