Valve cover to Carb. Cover vent diagram
When I bought my 70 GTO it did not come with the proper passenger valve cover ventilation to Carb filter housing assembly. I now have bought the assembly, but no idea how it all attaches from the valve cover to the Carb filter housing. Can someone share a picture or diagram? Thanks

Here's a pic - presuming you have the original-style dual snorkel air cleaner.
The lower end of the PCV vent tube inserts into the passenger's side valve cover, though the hole in the center with a grommet to seal it off.
The upper end attaches to the air cleaner housing, using the PCV vent filter, which is installed on the inside of the air cleaner housing and retained to the housing with a spring-clip on the outside of the housing. The tube slips into a 1 1/2" long, ribbed rubber hose that slides over the fitting on the vent filter. I'll see if I can find some more pics. |

Thanks Joe,, this doesn't seem to be the right tube for the 70 GTO? Or is there a difference between Ram air and non Ram air cars? I have a non Ram air.

That looks like the Ram Air tube
The standard V8 tube is MUCH shorter on the horizontal section than that.
Here's a pic of a crusty one. I think they are reproduced, but not certain. |

I have a question on the smaller diameter hoses that are running to the snorkels....what are those supposed to look like and where do they run from...the picture above seems to have a T in it, is that what I am seeing?
also what is actually taking place inside those snorkels with what appears to be a spring loaded bypass door??? Last edited by Drdach; 12-12-2021 at 01:14 PM. |

Yes, there is a 'T' fitting on the underside of the air cleaner base
The small hose attaches to the vacuum fitting in the top of intake runner #1, forward and to the driver's side of the carb.
From there, it goes to the thermal switch in the base of the air cleaner. From the other side of that thermal switch it comes out to a 'T' fitting and then a hose goes from the other two sides of the 'T' to the thermal actuators to the snorkels. I've attached a pic of the thermal switch. Here is a listing with a pic of the bottom and the hoses, but the pic is in a format that won't load to this site: https://musclecaraircleaners.com/pro...el-air-cleaner |
