Is there any gain to blocking the exhaust crossover on the manifold? If so whats the best way to go about it? I was just wondering if it would be worth the trouble.

The best way to do it is to fill the heads with molten aluminum from junk pistons. It is more beneficial to fill the heads instead of the intake. There are several posts that discuss this in detail. Just search for "head filling" or "exhaust crossover" and you should find everything you need to know.

Jason, if you fill your head you will have to clean out your exhaust port due to Alum. flowing into it. By filling your head the exhaust gasses don't tumble around the cross over.

Filling the head is the best way but you can block it with the tin piece you get from MR Gasket intake gaskets and I think Felpro has a block out now too. I've used this method for years but next time my heads come off I'm gonna fill'm.

Thanks for the answers. I plan on running nitrous. And from what I read on other post, the center 4 ports will not be working as well as the outer 4. Only if you block it between the head and intake (if you fill in the head I didn't see any problems). I didnt want to create a problem and possibly blow sometime up. So I think I'll just leave it alone.

Ahem,
Blocking the Y-crossover within the Pontiac head is key to avoid cross-contaminations of Cyl 6 Exhaust pulse into Cyl#4 Intake pull. Also Cyl 5 Exhaust pulse into Cyl#3 intake pull. Idle quality will clean up too. These comtaminations are often mistaken for Reversion. Tell-tale signs are carbon streaks in the Intake runners. Significant with high duration-overlap cams. Molten aluminum remains the easiest plugging method. I plan to plug 4 heads soon. H.I. Stud...........Mark
