It is some 90 odd pages, and I am sure it may blow up your phone notifications, but the information in this publication IS PRICELESS.

You will see where I have underlined and marked certain areas as a guideline when I built my 400ci Pontiac Engine 40 years or so ago.

If you want to know ANYTHING on building a ass kicking Pontiac Engine, it is in this book.

Enjoy!
90 pages, wow you are dedicated Pontiac Enthusiast I'm proud of you. I have that many pages to apply to the forum yet once I can break them down into single pages on Auto- cad, at least you have the book in your hand and just take a photo or scan shot and insert them. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see what you have. Mike out.

Some more stuff.
This is one of my favorite HO "Article" Publications.
There are (61) of them, starting in the 1st on August 1974, to the last on July 1979.
This one is Volume2, #5 published on December 1975.
So I wanted to start with one of these, out of order of the publications of course, to spark some interest on just how good this historical info is.

Specifically, check out Pages 7 &8 on the R/A-5 Engine.
It may have not been the best engine design as it was WAY too much for any practical street application
I swear I would drain my 401K to get my hands on one of these engines just for bragging rights.
Anyone out there have one, or any stories?

I will post these articles over time if there is interest......

Check through my other forum sites there is a person that built one of each of the Ram air 5 motors and there is some Photos of them. Also check out John Wallace site on line and he has lots of information on the Ram air engines and lots -lots more, Mike out for now.

A post can't be edited after 30 minutes I believe. (maybe less)

PY's posting program also doesn't allow a lot of things, or uses their own tags to make things 'work'.

So, you would have to post the text and add your own pics using their pic submitter inline with the text to make it 'look' good. (and in order)

It's not like making a web page and posting it.

You know what, the information is all there in text and photos people will just have to read the material and go through the photos and that will be that, I did my best, Thank you John . Mike out.

Heester1977, "Do the Roads lifters make noise in your Vehicle"? The reason I ask is because I run the "041" Pontiac Hydraulic cam and I am supposed to be using the Roads lifters with my 428 ci Pontiac. The only reason I "did not" install them is because I also like the sound my Motor makes and that too would change if I had installed them or so I have read. By the way I read the first 25 pages of the "H-O" Motor Build Text volume and found it informative, thanks for your input. I Also read all the Articles you supplied; they too are classic examples of Pontiac solutions to various problems along the way. Mike out- for now.

Short answer is No, they really do not, but then again my car is loud with 3" exhaust. Long ago I experimented with heavier weight oil, like 20W's, and that did make more of a racket. The Rhodes could not bleed off the higher weight oil. And, I have the HO HC-03 cam which is a pretty healthy item, and I run Scorpion 1.65 rollers, so that makes for a serious combo, but is still very street-able. The Rhodes lifters help to bleed off some of the cam at the lower RPMs, and pump up solid at higher RPMs - just what you want to help make the Cam more friendly for a street driven car. I see you run the 041 cam, which is the same as the HO HC03, but maybe not lift optimized like the HO brand?
Also, I want to add that I have tried many different oils, but generally stay away from synthetics, as I feel the old school motors don't seal as well with them, and were not really designed for Synthetic. This can be a endless debate, but I just change the oil more with a Non Synthetic. I use Valvoline VR1 Racing SAE 10W-30 High Performance High Zinc Motor Oil, and buy it off of Amazon.

Have a Ram Air Engine in your Pontiac? Or have you retro'd Ram Air Heads on your Block? Here is a cool article on them.
From the "Hesster's Archives" - Pontiac High Performance Mag dated October 1983.

Here is the HO "Heavy Duty Parts and Specs" publication from my archives, dated June 1976.
It is a outstanding compilation of all things Pontiac Engine and Drivetrain. If you are just curious as to the details of your Pontiac powertrain (pre 1977), or gonna build a Pontiac Motor, this is the Bible. Granted, this info is pure stock parts, and there is plenty of killer aftermarket parts out there. But the part numbers, assembly tips, and torque specs are worth printing some or all of the pages out.

[QUOTE=Hesster1977;6316142]last page 30[/QUOT

Thank you for your recent posts and keep up the good work.

I picked up a full rebuild kit for my TH 400 Pontiac Trans., but I had to buy the Thrust Washers from another vender because they were not included in their kit. I ordered the 3 Torrington Bearings too. I ordered the Rear case output shaft bushing kit that uses a Torrington also and came with 8 shims.

I bought a Gear for the Trans. oil pump as a precaution. I want to make sure that I get all the Thrust Loads correct as I build up my TH 400. Not until I open it up will I know if I need any hard parts inside. I have done my best to acquire as much info. off the Internet to solve any problems. If anyone is Interested in building this Th400 Trans I will pay a fair Price to assemble the Trans. and I will purchase all the parts.

You must Live in the south Florida area like Broward or Dade County, so I can deliver the Trans. to you. Also, I have the tools to build the Trans. here at my home so you can come here to assemble the Trans. My roommate will assist, and he will install the Trans in the vehicle.

If anyone knows a Trans. Mechanic that can handle this job let them know I have a side Job for them. Mike: can be reached at crpt428@yahoo.com.
