I have no idea if the driver would've shrieked like a little girl, but he for sure gets a pass on this one.

Damn. They said it held by "a" chain. Just one. Holy crap. I'd save that chain forever.
And let's hear it for the police, fire and rescue. Awesome people. Really awesome.

I'd be writing a THANK YOU note to the trailer manufacturer.....
And then personally thanking the salesman who talked me into the larger (heavier) trailer, too.
Lucky, lucky folks! Must not have been their time to go. |

Guessing the salamander got excited before the overpass.
Wondering if cruise control was on. If so then "he" was driving. |

Just imagine being in the cabin of that truck once it came to rest. Looking straight down into the canyon. Every little sound you hear, every little wind that blows, every movement you make just hoping that's not gonna be the one that's gonna break it loose. Jeeze. Memorable alright. Talk about a PTSD inducing event.

If you look at the Facebook photos they'll show excessive loading on the rear bumper of the trailer and judging by the amount of debris at the bottom of the canyon that fell out of the bed, I'd say the truck was overloaded as well. Not a good combination if you have to hit the brakes suddenly or a gust of wind pushes the trailer a bit.
Be interesting to see the trooper report.
