Premium unleaded at $4.40 and E-85 at $3.09 makes the actual savings about 23 cents per gallon. Hardly worth it if you take into consideration the extra amount of fuel you have to move, and consume, to make up the difference.

We have been in contact with quite a few folks using the E-85, and not a single one to date is seeing any real savings from doing so, at least in street driven cars and trucks.

It's also way too early in this game to know how bad the E-85 really is on the entire fuel system? If it ends up eating up a $1000 carburetor in 2-3 years, or all the fuel lines, tank, or the fuel pump, etc, factor that into the cost savings, and there woln't be any savings.

There is also the potential for cylinder "washing" and dilution of the engine oil, when we start adding that much fuel to the incoming air.....FWIW.....Cliff

Again,im not really thinking of it for savings.
23 Cents would be nice but even if it turns out the same cost as super unleaded, thats fine.
Im looking at it as i wont have to worry about detonation for the same price or 23 cents less a gal if you figure in the extra volume needed.
I need a carb and fuel pump/reg anyway.
Ill buy a fuel/pump reg that can handle alcohol. If it can handle alcohol,it will have no problem with e85.
As far as fuel lines,i have all stainless braided which is fine for e85.

Jeff, please pm me with a price on a custom Bandit edition 1050 dominator.
If you need the new combo details, just let me know.
Thanks!

Obvious that if you posted at 4.23 today that you are not coming to Norwalk. Sorry we cannot have a nice meal with Cliff, Debbie, and the rest of the people from last years get-together.

Keep building those great carbs.

Tom V.

Thumbs up Update

Thanks for the compliments!

After dialing it in on my car the throttle responce is smooth and crisp, something you'd expect in a smaller 4150 style unit.

WOT performance revs up fast and pulls hard!...something you expect from a Dom.

Overall one of the best Dom's I've built with many new mods & much higher levels of adjustability than any other brand unit I've encountered.

Last test will be plugging in the wideband to varify A/F @ idle, transition, & WOT then off to its owner!

Good luck Brad! this one was worth the wait!
Jeff

Shaker, do you think a dom can be built to run as good as my 850 on the street and track? I am upgrading heads in the spring and thinking about going Dom but it would have to perform well on the street primarily.

Thumbs up Street Fighter

BILTIT,
This new Dom is living proof that you can have perfect street maners without giving up the punch of the biggest carb ever built!

The external linkage is one of the key factors as it is set up to work the throttleblades like a 4150 which allows more primary throttleblade movement for street use.

I've done extensive testing, research (Tom Vaught) and mods to each circuit to eliminate the typical Dominator characteristics that make it less desirable for "REAL" street/strip use.

Here's a pic of it running adapted to my RPM intake for testing.

I never chasis dynoed the differance between the two on this set up as it is a test platform but I can tell you the engine responds more favorbly to the Dom.....the differance is night and day.
