4-1/2" long (roughly)

Same as the "long" Chevy bolts.

The knurls will stick out the top of the starter nose and locate in c'bores in the block.

Default Starter Bolts...

Monkey, the stock Pontiac starter bolts are 3/8-16 x 4-3/4" in length and are knurled on the ends, this length is for the stock delco starter.

If this is the starter you are using why not buy the correct bolts from PY or Ames.

PY part number #GME-134
Ames part number #FN-403S
Ames part number for starter shims #FN-404

Some of the mini starters on the market may use different length bolts but they should be included with the starter.

How did the lower dipstick tubes i sent you work out for you?

I have the RobbMc mini starter that uses stock bolts. Local shop has GM starter bolts that are 4 5/8. Sounds like those are the ones.

Bob- Worked really nicely, thanks. Motor is buttoned up tight and now I'm just bolting up the accoutrements. Tomahawk windage tray is really nice. I still have an extra lower dipstick tube that I will pass along to help someone else out when needed (unless you wanted it back?).

Thanks again.

Scott.
