Default Voltage regulator

I have a 67 gto and about every 2 years my regulator is going bad. Is it possiable that I have an electrical short in the system or are the aftermarket regulators just that cheaply built. Any insight would be great.

See if you can find a good used Delco. Mine has been on the car since new.

Put an electronic on it. It will fit under the cover for a stock look. Transpo Company.

I went through 4-5 regulators before i found one that worked . Using the wells vr-715 , and works great .. I think i got it at autozone. It was in a autozone box, but all wells inside.

You could alwys switch to an alternator with the internal regulator and keep the external one on the firewall. You'll need to solder jumpers tho for the connections on the external regulator's side of the plug-in. Was the best thing I did for mine..... no more worries.

The ebay link above is for a big car generator regulator. This thread is for GTO's.
