can I remove ST-10 shim plate @ tranny mount?
On my '76 f-bird w/ST-10 4 speed I need a little extra front driveshaft yoke to tunnel clearance and was wondering if I can safely remove the large plate that goes between the tranny and the mount w/o any changes? This plate is @ least 1/8" thick. What is this for? Thanks! Mike

If its only 1/8" thick, will probably be ok. Shims are usually used for U-joint angle alignment. Give it a shot & see what happens.

Mike - if it is that triangular plate, yeah..I've run without it. I usually use one of the prothane/urethane tranny mounts that might be a bit thicker than the rubber stock mounts and it might compensate a little. |

I believe the plate you're talking about is a support used to secure the catalytic converter. You'll have no problem removing it.
