Default GM trucks

GM is currently storing massive numbers of brand new trucks. I live in Fort Wayne Indiana where GM builds pickups. I have heard these brand new trucks were built without a some critical computer part that could not be sourced. I’ll send a photo of one of the storage lots later today. The bubble should burst when these trucks can be shipped. Also heard the trucks are completed and driven to storage then the computer part is removed and installed in another truck that needs transported.

I bet they are using the chips they have for people that order trucks, and the trucks being stored are the "zone delivery" vehicles to populate dealers when they can. Obviously they aren't going to let you order a truck they can't deliver.

I read an article the other day saying that due to the chip shortage some GM trucks being built will it have all of the options. Three they mentioned were the console wireless charging, cylinder deactivation and the auto start/stop function.

I bet those without the auto start/stop end up in high demand!

I dont think its just trucks, there is a large chevy Gm Buick dealer near by. We travel past on almost a daily basis. Yesterday they had about 10 cars and trucks on the new lot. I would guess they usually have 100 or more. The used lot was full of trucks though, all priced at what I would consider new prices!

What about hemi Rams??

I have a 19 Ram Laramie 1500, original owner, it has all kinds of stuff I don't use, or know how to. My main complaint is the check engine light is on way too much. It's annoying because I can't use the remote start when it's on. It's also a class 3 truck, so I got some shock when I got the turnpike bill.

I will be looking at the new Tundra's when they come out. Toyota has finally put some effort into their new trucks..

What's a 'class C truck'?

(the truck's not a dually correct?)

Also curious why there is a surcharge on a 1500 truck? 2500 I can almost understand as they are getting into 10kgvw. My brother got a ticket a few years ago driving his f250 pulling a trailer and not having a medical card.

Was he hauling commercial or private?

Is that true of the 2020 model year? I thought they were Motor Trend Truck of the Year or something. I see a few new/leftovers for sale locally with the 5.7 Hemi.

I'm good for a while. I bought my '17 Sierra 4 years ago for $42k, sticker $53k. Received $25k trade in from my '13 Sierra. I would probably receive what I paid for it new right now with 28k miles.

My '19 Canyon was purchased for $37k sticker $44k. That one with 33k miles would trade in over $30k in this market.

If it's a private truck, not commercial, with regular plates, there's no way he should've got a ticket.

The 5.7 Hemi had some teething problems back in the day, but they're pretty solid now. Every now and then you'll see one develop lifter issues, but it's not nearly as bad as the internet makes it seem.

It's a 1500, 4wd, quad cab, class 3. My previous 2014 Quad cab, 4x4, Ecodiesel, was a class 2. More money for yearly registration and more money if I go on the turnpike.

71GP76TA, The turnpike is a road you pay to drive on. The PA turnpike, when built, was just going to charge a fee till the cost to build it was paid for.It has paid for itself several times over. It is now the most expensive toll road in the world! We should feel honored to drive on it, not that I do much. And the good news is that tolls are scheduled to go up for the next several years!!

They’re new but there’s a casting in the block of the Hemis that reduces/blocks the amount of oil that hits the cam, at highway speeds it’s a non issue but if you spend more time idling it will be. I know a lot of Charger cop cars have had this issue as they idle a lot. Engines aside it just seems these newer Mopars are poorly built and not too reliable unlike the ones from years ago.

As far as buying new yea, the rates are good for now but they’re gonna have to raise them as the FOMC and banks have discussed. But with oil heading towards $100 a barrel and hyperinflation that Warren Buffet is warning us about I’d ask myself do I really need a $750 a month gas hog ?

Thats one good thing about California. We do not have toll roads... we just get raped with the most expensive gas tax and vehicle registrations in the country.

I’m personally not a fan of newer GM trucks, or any for that matter. Very expensive, too Many gadgets, technology and quite frankly weak and flimsy. I’m an auto painter at a busy collision repair shop and see how a small wreck or a deer hit just destroys these trucks. Not impressed. I’ll stick to my 2003 Sierra 2500. Complete with 6.0 gas engine, 5speed manual and crank windows. It’s paid for, in good shape and does everything i need it to do

Its not just newer vehicles either, Ive been offered more for my 84 GMC 1/2t swb 4wd (that needs some work) than it cost new in Nov 1983. It also still has one of the very first Banks turbo kits on the 6.2 diesel
