If you put a 1300hp motor in a 3000 pound car, it will get run over by a 1300hp motor in a 2200 pound car every day unless the 2200 pound car owner/driver/tuner is a complete idiot. Fact...

Can't argue with that statement, John. Quite a bit more work involved in the 800 pound difference.
So tell us Jim how John's statement is not true. Really want to learn here. Tom V.

The fallacy in your reasoning is you're making HP a constant and weight the only variable, But, in fact, HP, weight, density altitude, chassis, tires and a lot of other things can be variables. Does every engine make 1300 HP?

Me says keep a list of who run what. Period. Either you’re faster or slower.
Weight matters, sure. Weather, sure.... IF you’re trying to decide who made more power at any given moment on any given day. Otherwise, it’s an excuse as to why someone got outran. What makes this whole thing fun is if someone doesn’t like being “below” (slower than) someone else on a “list”, they can show up and run each other at the same track in the same weather, and forget the weight. Either you’re faster or you’re slower. Who cares if you make 1300 hp or 2000 hp. Boost or N/A. If you aren’t satisfied with your “position” or status, make a change. Otherwise, wear it with pride. That’s the only way to keep up with a list. ET/mph talks, bullchit walks. Sticky with a modifiable and time-stamped list, no replies allowed. Otherwise it gets lost in the technicality bullhockey banter. Could even establish some sort of list-race type of deal at events like Norwalk tripower nats, Pontiac Heaven Or any other event.

I just stated weight because we all know when your chasing an et, your not going out on a 90 degree day to run your best.
If 2 guys are running 7.70's one guy 2800lbs the other 3600lbs you know who had to put more work in. That would only be a piece of it though. If you notice from Billy's chart, it states if the car is NA, nitrous, or turbo... Did some guys take the short bus to school with helmets on??? |
