Default Old Goat 67 passed away

I read the news in the "curb your enthusiasm" thread. Thought I would repost it here.

GT182 posted that he died in his sleep early on 7/20 and his son Steven will post later on.

He is in a better place now with People like Carroll Shelby, Mac Mckellar, Pontiac engineer Thomas A. Nell, and Henry "Smokey" Yunick, etc.

Rest in Peace, until the flag drops.

So sorry to learn of this. Charles was one of the few who were always reliable and generous in documenting for anyone how the '67 was originally built. He came across as a great guy.

Met Charles a couple of times. He’s a Louisiana boy from St. Francisville. Near Baton Rouge. He put a good shout out on my engine ad that probably sold the thing for me.

Didn’t know he was sick. Good guy.

I talked with him quite a few times on the phone. He helped me a lot with my car. His presence here will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Charles. I'll talk with you again soon enough.

He said to me he was going to be with his wife Millie again. That's what he wanted. He'd had a good life but it wasn't the same without her. I met her and can positively say she was an awesome lady. I stayed a week with them, and it was the greatest "vacation" time I've ever had. They were both awesome and treated me like I was family. I miss her and I miss him. I can no longer talk with him and that hurts like hell. He was like a brother to me.

Here's one of their younger days.....

Charles helped me a number of times with '67 expertise, especially after I first got my car. He always came across as a really friendly and down-to-earth fellow. I wish I had had a chance to meet him in person. I will remember him in my prayers.

I first "met" him after I posted in the "cast water pump impeller" thread. He was the first to validate my successful result on his original '67 GTO which was always overheating (after replacing the water pump years ago). Ever since then we have been buds, speaking on the phone. The passing of his wife Millie was a sad time for him, stayed that way to the end.

He invited me down to his place, but I never was able to take him up on his offer. He will be missed.

George

Instead of flowers I just made a purchase of a Memorial Tree in Charles' name. On the certificate's message it supposed to say "In memory of Charles and Mildred Broussard" from me with the city I live in. Where will the tree will be planted? I have no idea but supposedly they will let me know. I did this because I couldn't get flowers sent for Millie and this will honor both of them all in one shot.

I figured a tree would last a lot longer than flowers. And I think Charles would agree.

Use the link in his Obituary for flowers if you wish to do the same.

Today is his funeral. I wish I could have attended. Charles, rest in peace my friend. You will NOT be forgotten.

And he was an Army veteran. Thank you for your service.
