Hi all, I'd like to install an aftermarket shifter with reverse lock out in my 70' LeMans.
I want to keep the automatic center console. I've seen other Pontiac A bodies with
aftermarket shifters installed in the stock location in magazines so I know it can be
done. I was just wondering what name brands work and what kind of modifications
if any are needed. Thanks, Steve

Hi I just finnished the installation of a B&M Competition shifter in my '69 Lemans, the shifter was for Firebird/TransAm console. It was a hell of a job, but it works. I made a change at the bracket for holding the cable, changed the fitting on the bottom and changed the console for fitting the shifter into the console.
There are a lot of aftermarket shifters but I don't know that there are some specially for A-body console's. Good luck.

You might want to try shiftworks. They have a lot of shift kits to that keep the factory look in your console. I don't know if they have the reverse lock-out you're looking for, but I they do have overdrive kits.

Hard to hit reverse with a factory dual gate! They fit right in with no mods & look bitchin' also
