Choke cam is stuck

Sounds like he only worked on the carb
But I’m sure he’ll reply back |

67 Carter 4bbl. carburetors use some unique gaskets between the carburetor base and the intake manifold. This includes a stainless steel shim gasket along with the paper one to close off the carburetor heat passage in the intake manifold. You must have the correct gaskets for a 67 model or you will have a large vacuum leak and a fast idle. Be sure all that is correct. Your rebuild kit may not have included all the correct gaskets and the sheet metal shim .

Does this carb have a large brass screw, front centre? If so, it is for idle speed. It controls AIR & acts like an air leak. Screw in to reduce idle rpm.

A 67 GTO would use a Quadrajet (mfd by Carter).
My bet is that the stainless steel heatshield to throttle plate, on flange gasket, is missing. |
