New Pontiac Aluminum Heads?
New bare aluminum heads from Speedmaster/ProComp China?
Interesting to note they also have complete heads for 350-455 Olds for $1,000 for a pair. Pontiac Bare Each https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-389...Nbd8a6&vxp=mtr Olds Complete Pair https://www.ebay.com/itm/PRO-COMP-PC...RbHF-p&vxp=mtr Last edited by NeighborsComplaint; 09-25-2018 at 02:39 AM. |

Just note that some of BB Chevy heads from China ( I have to double check which supplier ) have been dropping Intake seat out , many times with less then 1000 miles on the motor with the natural result of taking out the short block if the rpm was high enough!

I think you wouldn't probably run into more quality control issues than you would with Edelbrock heads, but there are a TON of people running these sorta off brand aluminum heads in the Chevrolet world with some success. Probably a nice middle ground and could really help Pontiac get a little cheaper to build street engines. Especially if you went the extra mile and had a competent machine shop look them over before install.

A bare KRE head is $795. Not that much of a savings

I do feel like I saw them cheaper when it first came up in a facebook group. I thought I saw them complete for under 1500, but maybe I was wrong.

I wonder why 1 Pontiac head is $725 and a pair of olds heads are $1000??
That seems to be common in the aftermarket that olds and AMC etc. are always substantially cheaper by the same manufacturer. |

I was was wondering that also

At 725 bare, as stated, I'd buy an edelbrock or a KRE head at basically the same price.
Now if you could get a set for a grand, I'd be willing to give them a try on kind of a throwaway motor to give them a shot. I took a chance on the FiTech and it was one of the best things I ever did to the car.

Still lots of $1,000/ pair bare NEW E-Heads out there that were bought for a future engine and then the people moved up to KRE High Ports or RA-V choices instead. And for the most part, the heads, even stock flowing, will not be any issue on 90% of the engines in either 87cc or 72cc builds.
I have purchased two sets of new heads that way in the past. Both sets were later ported. I used the savings $500 to buy good Ferrea Valves and Spring Seat locators. https://www.ferrea.com/ But if you want to try the Chinese stuff on heads, go for it. Tom V.

There is a new meaning to NOS. Instead of new old stock, it now means new off shore

Sad deal.... looks like a cheap copy of the Edelbrock Perfomer RPM.... and not really a discounted price.

LOL, I will gladly let someone buy a set and put in in action and then cry in their beer, telling us all of their woe....

I was not aware these were made until stumbling across them on eBay. Most definitely an Edelbrock 60589 copy right down to the DIY intake pushrod holes. Not that much cheaper than the Edelbrocks though.
What piqued my interest are the complete Olds heads at $1.000 (avail from Jegs also). If they can produce a pair of Olds heads at that price, can Pontiacs be far behind at $1,000 for a pair? |

Yeah, I guess I am stumped at the price too. For that I would absolutely buy name brand. But if they were complete for 1000 like other brands I would for sure give them a whirl in a budget motor.

Vic Edelbrock Jr is one of my personal heroes because at 26 years old he took over the company after his fathers untimely death and not only made it a world wide leader, but kept manufacturing in the United States. He could make all his stuff in China, but he doesn't.
I will absolutely never buy anything made offshore if a comparable US made part is available. Even if it means spending a little more money. That is only my opinion, your results may vary. -Abone.

His Family has owned the Aluminum Foundry for many years and make lots of castings there. When you have your own High Production Foundry, why would you ever think about having a head or intake casting poured in China.
Makes no sense at all. So yes, HE COULD have the Chinese cast up the parts IF he wanted to close his very efficient, high production foundry. What do you think the odds of that deal are. Tom V.
