I have a 68 LeMans convertible with a numbers matching 350. I took it to the track and the best I could do was 15.97. I'd like to get to the high 14's. Any advice? No headers yet but that's the first step. It's a 4-spd, with I believe 3.23's. It has a Performer intake with a Edlebrock 600. I'm getting conflicting info on putting #16 or #62 heads on. Can I do this? I am also thinking the 068 cam.

First line of upgrade is to install the HEI distributor, and replace the pink resistance wire with a copper wire, from Distributor to underhood Fuse block connector.

Next line of upgrade is to install the factory 4BBl manifold with Q-Jet carb.

Next line of upgrade (or do at same time) is to update the worn cam, lifters and timing chin & timing gears.

Have a nice day.

I would recommend what HI said. Convert to HEI, install a new cam, lifters, and timing set. #16 or #46 heads would benefit from a gasket match and bolw clean up. You really shouldn't have a problem getting into the 13's.

Would I have Valve to bore clearance problems with the #16 or 62 heads?

Cam selection is tricky, and if you know anyone with some engine simulation software I'd have them do some tests for you. As a starting point I'd try the Crower 60241 cam. It'd be a little much in a 350 with an auto, but your 4-speed should tame it down enough.

JMO, but the Performer is just an aluminum version of the stock manifold, so if you have it already hang onto it. If you don't have it, don't waste your money buying it, find a stock one for $20.

I don't know if you've checked your bottom end, but I hope it holds together with the increased power.
