Default 72 GTO Sticker placement

Does anyone have a 72 assembly manual or know exact measurements of where the GTO stickers on the rear quarter panels go ?

Thanks in advance,

Jody

Wow.....LOL. Inconclusive would be correct. I like the Cardinal Red picture placement the best. I guess I may just have to wing it and see where I like it the best and go that direction.

Hey Jody:

I care not what all the experts have posted, in this thread or that old thread. I was driving when the '72s were on the showroom floors, and these photos show the decal placement that is CORRECT and looks the best as well. Those tell the story and I'm sticking to it!

BTW, I'm not very opinionated, am I?

That is a tough one because the workers that stuck them on were not measuring the exact placement. Starting with the passenger side quarter panel, I usually start with measuring the right edge of the "G" about 2" away from the quarter panel rear bumper indention and the top part of the "G" about 1-1/2" down from the quarter panel beltline crease. Same with the "O" on the drivers side rear quarter panel. But more important is sticking it on straight. Good luck!

Back in the day pics of my car wearing its original GTO stickers.

Thanks for everyone's help and input. They get put on tomorrow and I just want it to be as right as it can be. Not sure after looking at all of the pictures of original cars, restored cars if there really is a "right" placement other than being straight with the quarter panel crease. I do feel better that I can not mess it up too bad. Looking at Lloyd's pictures, they all seemed to be in different places...LOL

I'd say close is close enough.

On the quarter below the body line & behind the wheel should get you in the ball park.

Why didn't you measure yours before you removed them? :P
