New pinion yoke required when replacing pinion?
I've been reviewing a few videos online about rebuilding an extra 8.2 rear end that I have. I intend to build it with posi and 3:55's, and then switch it out from the 2:78 rear end that's in the car now. A few of them recommend getting a new yoke for the pinion when doing the rebuild. No big deal, I thought, until I priced one out. Is it really required? The existing one seems to be in good shape. I've already spent a good amount of money on this thing. I'm replacing every bit of hardware, the bearings, seals, brakes, brake lines, etc. I haven't even bought the carrier and gears yet.
