Default 64 vs 66 console difference

Can someone tell me the difference between a 64 GTO console and a 66 GTO console besides the 64 is blue in color.. I have a 64 console to install ion a 66 GTO and need the boot. I see the 66 and 64 boot are different. Do I use a 64 boot or a 66 boot or will it matter. For once I would l would like to order the correct part the first time. This is a 4 speed console.

1964 manual shift console is a one year only.
There is a gray vinyl material glued to a curved plastic that slides with the shifter handle.
A spring underneath keeps this slider in contact with the bottom of the console.

1965, 66 and 67 console use a separate bezel that takes a rubber boot shown in last photo.

So not caring about originality can I use a 66 boot on a 64 console or do I need to use the 64 boot? Is the shifter hole about the same?

From best of my recollection the cup holes are pretty much the same.
You should be able to use the 66 boot
