Only Pontiac powered car I see on the Q-sheets is Wilbert Thornton's '74 T/A Super Stocker.

In Stock, Diane Burton was #2 qualifier, in the Burton '74 Formy. Norman Warling was also on the list, with his '62 Cat.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop

In SS, Robert Cruzen was #1, with his 428 powered Cobalt. Scott Burton was #5, with his 428 powered '91 Bird. Carroll Warling was also on the list, with his '74 GTO.

In Stock, Brad Koivisto was #1. I think I counted 10 Pontiac powered Stockers. That may be the most I've ever seen at a div race. Not sure.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop

In SS, Don Kennedy was #2. Other Pontiac powered cars were driven by Travis Morgan & Stacy McCarty. Irvin John's car MAY be Pontiac powered. Don't know. Anybody here know ? IIRC, at one time, one of his cars was Pontiac powered, was driven by Todd Frantz, & won class at Indy.

I noticed a couple of things from that Stock Q-list.

(1) Here's a name I'm not familiar with.

"...G/SA Tony Sutfin, Marshall IL, '73 Firebird..."

I assume this car is powered by a D-port 455. Anybody know any details of this car ? Usually, when a new name pops up with a Pontiac Stocker, the car is a veteran, which has been sold to a new owner. Some names that pop into my mind are Troy Vogel, Dan Johnson, & Allen Hollingsworth. I suppose one of these cars could have been sold. But, someone could have built a new car. Not a lot of new Pontiac powered Stockers have been built in recent years.

(2) Billy Foder is listed driving a C/SA '70 T/A.

"...C/SA Billy Foder, Garden City MI, '70 Trans AM..."

He's been driving a '72 455HO powered T/A, without wheel flairs. It is a veteran Stocker, which has won national events.

If the class & year model on this Q-list is correct, then I assume that Bill is using the same car, but with different grills & a different engine. The only '70 Bird Stocker I can remember, in the modern era, is the '70 Formy that Scott Burton ran. He ran it with a RAIV engine, in B/SA.

So, I'm wondering if Bill is now running RAIV heads/intake, & '70 grills. If so, I assume he has the only active RAIV equipped Stocker.

Anybody here know the details of this car in it's current state ?

Looks like only 4 Pontiac Stockers survived E-1. Dave Batta, Tommy Pettigrew, Julie Biermann, & Brad Koivisto.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop

Only Travis Morgan survived SS E-1.

In SS, Scott Burton made it to E-3, with 6 cars remaining, but left too soon. Not a good weekend for Pontiac powered class cars, in elims.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

But, we had some good Pontiac powered qualifiers. So, the losses can't be blamed on the Pontiac power.

The bad news is that Scott Burton was eliminated in SS E-4.

But, the good news is that Randi Lyn survived Stock E-4 & will move on to the semi-final.

Now the good news is that Randi Lyn made it to the Stock final.

But, the bad news is that she left too soon & lost.

But, check out the lights the winner cut during elims. His worst light was a .034. Take that one out & look at the others: .000, .004, .005, .004, .009. WOW !

A string of lights like that will win some races, ya'll !

The Lucas Oil Nats starts Fri.

Looks like 3 Pontiacs on the Stock pre-entry list: Brad Koivisto, Dwaine Davis, & Ronald Prince.

https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...BM1&cc=8&rn=16

They're also having a Lucas Oil Series race there, yesterday & today. The 3 names mentioned above are on the Q-list.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

There's also some racing in div 1 this weekend.

Default Stocker Video

While looking for something else, I ran across this 9 min video, which I thought some here might enjoy.

On it, 4 currently active Pontiac powered Stockers make a pass. One of the cars is Bob Michael's one-of-a-kind(I assume) '77 Catalina.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrC84cfGCUM

Well, this one ain't from 2021. But it has a few well known Pontiac names in it, including Scott & Brad Burton, John Schloe, Lindy Lindholm, Leo Glasbrenner, & Larry Maxwell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqkJLbxlXSI&t=11s

By the way, Brad Burton won that race, and won the Stock championship that year. His 2nd.

I thought this was interesting.

In the H/SA class final, Dwaine Davis left too early & ran a slower ET than Brad Koivisto. But, Brad left even earlier than Dwaine did, so his light turned red first.

Therefore, Dwaine is the H/SA class winner, with a slower car.

Ron Prince cut a great light & won his double-breakout 1st round match-up. Dwaine Davis, also got by the 1st round, when his opponent did not show.
