Adam ran strong in Q-1, with a 10.476, good enuff for #4 position. Allen Hollingsworth was in the #8 position, with a .993 under run of 11.007. Randi Lyn was #32 & Michael Brand was #34.

Bill Kennedy is still running GT/MA. So, I'm thinkin he may be running a 305sbc engine, instead of Pontiac power. But, I could be wrong. If anybody knows for sure, please post your info.

In Stock Q-2, Michael Brand dipped into the 10's.

Looks like we might have a chance at a couple of class wins.

But, you can never tell, since lots of these guys are sand baggin, except for heads-up runs.

Just as suspected, there was a lot of sand baggin goin on in qualifying. But, Michael Brand managed to pull off a holeshot win in C-1.

Noticed that Matt Tankersley is on the pre-entry list in S/G.

I rode by Kennedy's car and looked under the hood and it has a Pontiac motor. Don't know any other details.

Yes, it is Vic Santos' old car.

Michael & Randi Lyn survived Stock E-1.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Bill Kennedy also won his 1st round of SS.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

According to the schedule, that's all the Stock & SS for today. They're supposed to run the 1st round of S/G.

Thanks for the eye witness report !!!

The pre-entry list shows a 400 Pontiac engine. But, from what I looked up, it appears that with a 400, the car would have to be pretty heavy. I'll look up some more specs & see what Pontiac combos are possible, with Pontiac 350 & 400 engines, running GT/MA, in an 85 Bird.

Looked up some numbers.

GT/MA is a 12 lbs/hp class. The '77 350 has an NHRA hp factor of 250 for GT.

So, 12 x 250 = 3000. I think 170lbs has to be added to allow for driver weight. So, total weight, with driver, is 3170 minimum. Very doable.

The later model 400 engines have a factor of around 290. So, 12 x 290 = 3480. That means that with a 400, the car & driver would have to weigh at least 3650.

So, 3650 - 3170 = 480. That means that a 400 powered GT/MA would have be 480 lbs heavier than a 350 powered car.

I know that Mike Morgan has run quick with a '77 350 Bird, and Bill Rink has run quick with his '74 350 GTO. So, I assume that either a 350 or 400 combo would work. The 400 car will just have to be heavier, to run GT/MA.

Carroll Warling ran good, and even held the nat record for awhile, with his 400 powered '74 Lemans/GA. So, he proved that a heavier 400 powered combo can work.

E-2 was not pretty, for the Stock & SS Pontiacs.

But, in S/G, Matt Tankersley cut another great light, for the win.

Matt made it to the quarter final round, where he ran a 9.903, but left a bit too soon.

Default Div 4

There's a div 4 race this weekend in South Texas.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

http://racerpr.com/event/nhra-lucas-...cing-series-2/

I assume there will be at least 2 '74 Birds there, driven by Hunter Pierdolla & JB Clegg. JB qualified his SS/I SD455 Bird with a 9.74, at the 1st div 4 race this year.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2018#indextop

At that race, there were also a couple of other Pontiacs, a '77 Lemans Stockker, driven by Wayne Larsen, & a '74 SS/IA '74 T/A driven by Billy Ingels. So, if they all show up, there could be 3 '74 Birds there. Don't know how long it's been since that happened.

Looks like JB ripped off a 9.65, which was good enuff for #11 position on this qualifying run.

https://www.nhra.com/results/2018/lu...er/super-stock

Didn't see any familiar Pontiac names on the Stock Q-list.

There's also a National Open race, on the West coast. this weekend.

Should be quite a few Pontiac powered cars entered.

Hunter Pierdolla did indeed make it to the race, with his '74 T/A Stocker. He was #23 on the Fri Q-list with an .854 under run of 11.296, in H/SA.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

JB Clegg finished the day in the #11 position, with his SS/I '74 T/A, with a .900 under run of 9.65.

Looks like there are 4 Pontiac powered cars entered in the Stock/SS combo class.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Chris Stephenson is qualified in the #18 position, with his '68 E/SA Bird, Ryan Schloe is #43, with his F/SA '73 Bird, Tommy Brown is #50, with his K/SA '74 Lemans, and Lindy Lindholm is #71, with his GT/MA '74 Bird.

All the Pontiacs got put out in round 1.

Thought some might be interested in the driver of the #76 qualifier. Ran above the index and cut a .243 light in E-1.

Default Lookin for good #16 head cores

A guy on another Pontiac forum is considering switching his '68 Bird from bracket to Stock. So he's looking for some suitable unported '68 model #16 big valve head cores.

Anybody have or know of some, for a reasonable price ?
