Default 2015 Pontiac Powered Class Racer Results

The Winternationals are underway ! After the 1st round of Stock Eliminator qualifying, it looks like we have 4 Pontiac powered cars on the list--Mark Maxwell, Bob Aceves, Leo Glasbrenner, and Lindy Lindholm. There are more old school Stockers on this list and fewer of the 8 and 9 sec late models.

If anybody discovers that I have overlooked a Pontiac powered racer, please post that info and I'll make the correction. Thanks !

Didn't realize Pete Biondo was running a Chevy? When did he switch?

I assume he'll still run the Pontiac powered 4th gen Hatari in GT Super Stock. Lots of 'em run more than 1 class.

Default SS Q-1

OK, the 1st round of SS qualifying is done. There are a few familiar names, Like Peter Biondo, Art Peterson, Keri Angeles. But there are several GT class Pontiac bodies that could have Pontiac engines, or not. Don Thomas in an '04 Grand Am is the only other one I have on my list as being Pontiac powered. If ya'll know of others, please post that info. Thanks.

Here's the 3rd and final round of SS qualifying. Looks like they got Keri back on the track. She's in #46 position.

Default 3 Pontiacs Advance

Leo Glasbrenner was the only Pontiac Stocker to make it passed the 1st round. Peter Biondo and Don Thomas won their 1st round in SS.

Well, I'm sorry to report that Peter Biondo lost the 3rd round, in a close double breakout race.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

But, unless there is a Pontiac powered GT car that I'm not aware of, he went farther than any other Pontiac at this years Winternationals.

So, congrats to Peter and Phil ! And I hope they have another great season this year.

Default Division 2 -- Orlando

There is a divisional race in Orlando this weekend. Unless I missed one, there are 3 Pontiac powered Stockers listed in the 1st round of qualifying. Don Himes has the highest qualifying position of the Pontiacs. The car is listed as a '79 Lemans. Good luck guys !

Sorry to report that none of the Pontiacs made it passed the 1st round. But congrats to Don Himes for his #7 qualifying position @ .954 under his index.

Yes, I think it's a 301. For racing or any hi-performance app, you need to use the 301T block. They are much stronger than the non-t blocks. There is a 301T car that runs low 12's. And there have been other strong 301T cars. I think these cars have set some national records. I'm quite sure that there are certain aspects of making one live in a race app that are known only to the racers themselves, and to those who they choose to reveal them. But, they have proven that it can be done.

Default 301 CI

I guess I'd be somewhat worried about the crank. Maybe the heads siamesed ports won't let it rev enough to stress it too bad.

OK, there is a National event this weekend in Ariz. There's also a division race in Fla. I count 5 Pontiac powered Stockers on the qualifying list in Ariz. And Brad Burton is #1 qualifier with his D/SA '72 Formula ! So, congrats to Brad.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

There are also at least 2 GT class Pontiac powered Super Stockers entered. Don Kennedy and Peter Biondo are number 11 and 12 qualifiers. As always, if you guys know of any other Pontiac powered GT cars that I am missing, please post your info.

Thanks to WD Creech for the GT info ! I've made corrections.
