They came with all the advantages of mass produced castings, (quality castings, consistent cores and machining). Look at all the choices we have now from mild to wild, even some heads from China!. Pontiac is big time now. FWIW, that ugly Wenzler Gutsram was the quickest and fastest intake we ever had on the Grocery Getter. Took allot of work to straighten out, but ran great.
Agree on all counts. Larry Wenzler is still doing well and making parts. Ordered two tunnel rams and a top from him last year.

If you want to talk about some fake azz racers.

Where did all the CVWhat guys go.

Not a peep on the web or FB really.

Are converters still that hard to come by?

Waiting on the next port or Tee Pee manifold?

Right but that could have been last year....or not, I never said BUT I didn’t say that I raced this year, that would be a lie and I don’t....lie that is! I don’t post everything that I do on this web site.

Enough already about the first aftermarket Pontiac V8 heads!
Mickey sold his first Pontiac aluminum heads in 1962. Yes they had hemi chambers, and no they weren't "bolt on"- but they were definitely the "first".

To truly answer the "first Pontiac aftermarket head" question- a search for who made the earliest ones for the inline flathead sixes and eights would be needed.

Good point! Sorry I forgot about them. He made a lot of cool stuff! ..... The Wenzlers aren't really a true bolt on either.

Pretty sure that's where the hatred stems from.

A buddy of mine busted his Azz a while ago. Said he was a conceited Jack Azz before the race and totally humble after he got his Azz cracked.....my buddy was running "starter" E-heads.

WOW! Selective memory on my part on that one. Yes the Mickey Thompson Hemi heads were first as far as the V-8 Pontiacs. You, Steve Barcak, and a few others had to be shaking your heads after my post! Sorry about that. Aftermarket heads for previous in-line antique Pontiac engines? Don't know if any were produced. They would be quite rare today for sure. Still feel Larry Wenzler's contributions get overshadowed and forgotten in many cases with all the "mainstream" offerings available now. I guess that's progress.

Yea it would seem like i was racing, in my defense I'm posting from my phone in-between working on my car i don't like long post so i try to shorten them.....so i apologize for that. I've said all along in my posts that my first race was not until late may early june (Milan Dragway - Detroit Dragway Reunion).

Thats interesting because basically I never race a Pontiac until the Tri-Power race and since I'm normally quicker then about 95% of the cars their the odds are pretty slim so that doesn't seem likely BUT its not impossible. It would have been either a Q16 car or a Frantic Four car and since I don't race against Frantic four cars that would narrow it down a bit....so I'm going to call BS on that one....since I'm normally one of the quicker cars in the Q16.

I did not say anything about being "first". We all know this whole Pontiac aftermarket thing took off with the Edelbrock Pontiac RPM head. And Eagle finally gave us a good steel rod we could just go out and buy.
My engine was started in the late 80s. All were had were Crower Billets since they stopped making their forged Pontiac rod. And factory steel and then BME aluminum. Maybe a few others.
Edelbrock and Eagle kick started this whole thing. Wenzler has made Oldsmobile aluminum cylinder heads for awhile now. But they are not where we are. Its about mass production.
And come on George. I own a "starter" set of E heads that have been in the 7s in a 3400lb car. By someone who has the money and will to do that and more.
For me its great. I can buy the nice old junk and it will easily do more than I need for pretty cheap.
