Thumbs up Congratulations to Aaronman!!

Some of you may have seen pictures of Aaron's PONTIAC powered dragster. Yesterday was it's first time out. Was supposed to be a test/shakedown day after wedging that IAII into the dragster with a lot of plumbing and other changes.
Those of you who know Aaron, he doesn't just test, he goes to win!!
Aaron won Gizmo gamblers at Grove Creek (1/8 mile) consistently running 5.25 @ 134. The lights I saw were from .002 to.011.
I don't think anyone had seen anything but a BB/SB chevy in a dragster around here. Way to go Aaron and Pontiac Power!!

WooHoo!

Way to go Aaron.

Still working on the setup?

The MPH should be a low 5.0 for sure.

What was the 60' time?

Way to go Aaronman! And this was "just" shakedown runs. I would expect with some refinement there is more MPH in it too. Wouldnt surprise me to see 4.90's in the near future!

PO the chevy gang with a Pontiac, they hate it!

fwiw, my dragster ran 4.95 @139 with a 1.10 60 ft and 4.73@145 with a 1.05 60 ft. does anybody know how aarons car 60 ft'd? mine was a 2000 plus # 4 link car, with tight converters, so the 60 fts were comparatively slow to a lot of cars with similar ets.

Here's a few more details. Fun day at the track for sure. Special thanks to my Pontiac brotheron Bill Meyer, Dave Hamilton and my daughter Kaylyn who went a few rounds in the Firebird as well.

This was the dragster's maiden voyage. It's a 4 link and weighs ~2000lb. It was not set-up optimally as I was shifting it on time at 2 seconds out to reduce the the likelihood of spinning on the shift. DA was about 4000' and track a bit greasy. The 60' times were 1.19. ET's were consisent and around 5.28. The torque converter seems to be too tight resulting in bigger mph and sacrificing some 60'. It's geared for the 1/4 mile and went through the 1/8 mile traps at 6400rpm. I'll provide another update after the Brainerd event next weekend. I hope to get some more things sorted. Hope this is helpful for those considering a Pontiac Powered dragster.

What's the gear ratio on your dragster?
