Smile "Your car is fake"

Not trying to start any trouble! LOL! So I was in my garage with my Judge, when my neighbors grandson stops by. He's around 10 years old and when I have my car out, he usually stops by and says he really likes my car. He's sort of milling around looking at my stuff then he blurts out "My mom says your car is fake" I'm not sure he even knows what that means, and I didn't ask him. I was a little ruffled but kept it to myself......in my head......your mom's breasts are fake! LOL...I really think the car Auctions they show on tv are to blame. I'm guessing she sees Judges going for tons of money and there is no way a guy like me could afford a "Real" one. Oh well.....I won't hold it against the kid! I rev my engine now when I see his mom outside!

Holy crap, that's great!

I'm not a fan of my neighbors either & can only imagine the things they have to say.

your mother cheats, and you look just like the plumber
...oops

That was classic with the kid dropping the whole bomb.

Past neighbors' kids have always told me / said things I could tell came from the parents mouths but seldom started with "Dad said" or "Mom said".

Years ago I sold my partially restored "fake" 70 GS 455 Stage 1 convert. The guy finished it, pretty nice car, he was quite proud of it but he knew it was a fake.

He was at a shopping center one day, as he walked back to his car two guys not old enough to drive bicycled up, got off their bikes, looked the car over and as he arrived at his car one kid said "Nice GS, too bad it's a fake!!!"

I must be the lucky one. My neighbors are great and always ready to answer the call when I have a problem. In exchange, they know I am happy to flip them the keys on occasion to make the Dairy Queen run with their kids.

This weekend was especially cool though as I was cleaning and mopping the HRG. I had cars stacked up in the driveway and when it came time to roll up the garage door to escape the wet floor there were three young boys gathered around the NSX staring at it. The bravest one spoke up and asked if it was an electric car. In as deadpan a voice as possible I replied that it actually was powered by nuclear fusion. The response was priceless when he said "Cool, I really like it".

That's great! At a local car show my 70 judge was called a le mans because they could see the drum brakes, but that person was in their thirties. Does that count?

People ask me why I painted it Blue....

I say because I like Blue...

Somewhat understandable to the lay person, it seems every 69-72 I see advertised for sale these days is a Judge, and they sure as heck can't ALL be Judges . . .

Every time the little pos comes over taunt him as to why doesn't mommy have a Judge or why doesn't mommy buy you one? Also, ask him why mommy's Honda "Odd"ysey is so slow? I like the fake tata's one myself.

When driving my 70 Judge to work a few years back, staff would ask me if I was going to law school. Had to explain what a "Judge" was

At a car show last year I had my LeMans entered. It's a first for me since I just got the car last year. It was a diverse crowd as it was an open show. As usual, there were not many Pontiacs around.

Out of excitement, I made up a big sign to display at the show. Being that my car is a clone, I specifically wrote "1964 Pontiac LeMans" on the heading. My car has the LeMans louvers in front of the rear tires (the builder "liked them" and reinstalled them despite cloning the car), the battery is on the wrong side since it started life as a 6 shooter, and the water neck goes to the wrong side for that year (not to mention the car is NOT stock under the hood by any means).

So what comments did I get? "Why didn't you write 'GTO' on your sign?" and (one spectator to another) "well, in 64 they were LeMans' not GTO's yet"

So I guess I sorta got the reverse thing happening. We can't win. Well, actually, that's not entirely true. I won two trophies that day!

I've been told my 72 Trans Am isn't real because "they didn't make them with a stripe, they all had the big bird on the hood"

The first show I entered my 65 GTO after I finished it was a BOP show several years ago. About mid way through the show I had a middle age mad walk up and spend several minutes really going over the car. After noting that it was column shift automatic, he told me piped up, "Very nice car, too bad it's a clone". I just nodded my head and let him go on his way.
