I would think so. I would first check the guage and then how and where it;s hooked up and where are you taking the reading from.
What kind of pump are you running?

60 lbs is lots

I ran a Titan pump in my 474 race motor and when first fired pressure went way past 100 lbs until it warmed up. Everything in that engine looked perfect. The only problem was too much horsepower. The block was starting to split. If it wouldn't have been, I would have reused everything except for rings.

Personally, i wouldn't care for that much pressure. My bearings look great with 1/2 that much in a roller 455 that's making close to 700HP.

i have the melling pump in my 474 race engine. taking the reading from the filter housing i used to see 70-75 pounds warm. this winter i relocated the oil pressure line to the hole in the block next to the distributor. i was told to expect a ~10~ pound drop in pressure from making this change and that's exactly what i've seen. i run royal purple 20W50 oil.

Mine will read over a 100 going down the track. Reading is taken by the distributor. Had it apart this winter and everything looked great. This will be the 3rd season on this set of bearings.

I quit using the 20w-50 oil. I've been using 5w-30 synthetic. That lowered the pressure quite a bit.

Put in a lighter synthetic or blend like 5w30 and you will see a performance increase. Do it next outing-should be fine.

i don't know if this was mentioned, but most engine builders i have spoke with say to keep about 10lbs per 1000rpm. anything else, though it may not hurt your engine, is a waste. you will lose hp with excessive pressure. i like the ideas of lowering the pressure with thinner oil. i may quit using 15w50 myself.
