Default Atoll blue interior colors?

My 1970 GTO was Cardinal red with red interior. When I started this project about 10 years ago (good Lord...that decade flew by...) my plan was to stick with the original.

Now I've had a change of heart. I like blue cars. My T/A is blue & I love it. So the GTO will be Atoll blue with pink eyebrow stripes. I picked up a pint of paint & hope to do a test panel in the next couple weeks to make sure the formula is correct, or at least close.

Here is my dilemma - what color should the interior be? Red is out of the question.....I've seen Atoll cars with blue and black interiors, not sure what else was a suggested color. Looking for opinions, & hopefully pictures. It's going to be a while before I'm at the interior stage but I will be painting in the next few months & need to know what to do with the dash panel...

Sandalwood looks sharp with Atoll. Too bad GTOs didn't have tuxedo like SS's or GS's.

X2. Luv Sandlewood over blue or black for the interior. IMO.

Yeah, I agree tuxedo would look great. I've thought about using a '69 interior so I can get that tuxedo look. What the hell, hardly any of the original car is left...

If anyone has a picture of a sandalwood dash I'd love to see it, especially from the top (thru the windshield) so I can see what color the metal dash panel is painted.

Parchment would be my first choice but I like the 'monochrome' scheme on hardtop musclecars also, so blue on blue would be a real close second for me.
I do have to say, the sandlewood does look very nice as well-

I like Atoll Blue on Red, otherwise black or sanddlewood as others have said. Will your car have a vinyl top because that could be a difference maker.

If you like blue don’t leave out Burmuda Blue, it’s more rare.

70 or 71 sandalwood is a beautiful interior combo when combined with the right exterior color, & when the interior is correctly restored. Some serious attention to detail has to be taken to get the dash, console, and plastic interior pieces the correct shades. Similar to '78-79-80 Camel interior Firebirds, many well intentioned "restorers" have no clue to the differences in original colors.

I'm a fan of blue interiors on a blue 70-72 A-bodies.
For Sandalwood interior shades, I think the 70 sandalwood pops more than the 71 sandalwood on blue cars.

No vinyl top, at least not anymore. Originally it had a white vinyl top. I had to replace the roof because of the vinyl....

To be honest I've never seen a GTO (or even a Lemans, for that matter) with a blue or sandalwood interior in person, so I'm going from pictures. Makes it harder to know what the exact colors are.

Thanks for the pictures. The sandalwood car @ Mecum is cool.

John, I saw the car you are talking about; in fact hose pictures were the tipping point for me in my decision to change colors. It looks great.

You could always go with black and red, one of the best combos ever imo. This would make your resto easier since it is already red.

If you're talking black exterior with red interior, I agree...One of my all time favorites and saves the trouble and expense of an interior color change, which is quite extensive, IMO.

My car sat outside for 20+ years before I got it, so I need to replace or recolor every single part anyway. A color change is not a deal breaker.

This is what I started with, so I feel no guilt about changing things up.

I just went through this, trying to pick an interior color, was originally thinking I would choose a factory color, but then said to myself, why? Just pick any 68-72 color, especially if it's not an original.

Both PUI and Legendary make interior panels/parts in any available color, and have the dye to match.

The 71 I based the car off of was a BB with white interior. Not Ivory. I guess it was a late 71 car? I do have the build sheet and PHS, need to look at that.

Anyway, I chose to go white. And wow, it is WHITE. But it will look good, based on the previous combo, I'm sure.

I'm doing the headliner this weekend, once that's in, I can pretty much install the whole interior. So I will have a couple pics soon for reference. If you poke around, you will see pics of the Bermuda/white combo, will give you an idea. There's one at the beginning of my build thread. (which I will update this weekend. Or plan to!)

CORRECTION: Originally it was Lucy/White. (Lacking coffee at the moment)

Lacking coffee? Unacceptable......!

Hywstr, photos would be great. I've been thru your build thread a few times. Seeing your car painted was one of the things that firs got me thinking why I was planning to go back to red in the first place...

I'm getting there! Due to the level of gin consumed last night, it took more coffee than usual!

Yeah, I will get some posted, the white really pops, provides a lot of contrast. Along with the stripes, and the slight effect the paint has, it will draw attention.

I can only imagine what it would look like from the side at night, under the street lights, passing by. The paint, stripes, etc, it will pop for sure.

It's getting warmer, and about to go into thrash mode. It will be driving this summer.

Blue on blue.... Sandlewood would be second. The black interior is kinda a "standard". I like it... However, it just goes with EVERYTHING.
