I helped a buddy install a new cam and valve springs in his '04 GTO, M6 this past weekend. He had previously had long tube StainlessWorks headers installed, LPE CAI and had the car tuned. He just had the car re-tuned yesterday for the new cam. The new numbers are 381 HP and 366 Ft Lb torque. I thought the numbers seemed pretty stong.

How difficult was the swap? Top end work is what I'm leaning toward as well.

The install actually wasn't too bad. You just need a few special tools. A small 3 jaw pulley puller, pulley installer and the Crane LS1 valve spring compressor is a must. I just used these F-body instructions. F-Body Install I think the GTO is actaully quite a bit easier. Took about 7-8 hours.
