The T56 setup from SST with the proper bellhousing and all the crap that goes with it is almost 7,000.

I'm thinking you'll probably have more than that in your motor.

My wife when working bought a lot. However she was argumentative all the time. Now since retired very easy going with me,she yells at the dog when she the dog makes a mess. She just says as long as the bill's are all paid.I had to sell over the years, early SD parts, brand new Nash 5spd with Long shifter, nos IV heads, 180 degree headers.So she trusts me ,I THINK! May want to find relaxed moment and have a sincere talk.

If my wife had a hobby it would be easier- but she just doesn’t have anything particular that drives that passion like the car hobby does for us.

We all run into this on occasion, life can be hard, wives can be harder but it's all worth the struggle in the end.... could be worse... what cool hobbies do most women really have??? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk |

Hmmmm
Maybe it's something else and this was an "easy" blow up.
Talk to your wife, not us. Could be something not so much you was bothering her. Find a night to take her to dinner. Then again, don't listen to me for marital advice, I'm divorced. I still have my car, but I'm probably set back 10-15 years on the project.

Isn't there a Richmond 6 speed for sale on this forum? Would that meet your needs? I don't know anything about the Richmond unit so just throwing it out there in case it helps. I have a T56 but it came with a GTO wrapped around it from the factory. I rarely use all the gears when in traffic....."W" shift most times (1st-3rd-5th). Are you going with a Pontiac mill under the hood or something different? |

Richmond won’t work it’s a bench seat car. I am running a traditional Pontiac motor. No LS swap here

I used to have a wife like that and the way we handled it was to keep things totally separate and like Gary (form74) did, bought/sold/parted cars & parts. We referred to it as "Car Money".
I would buy a part for $20, sell it for $30 and have $10 in car money. She was fine with that until I started buying and selling cars - bought a 72 Formula for $400 and sold it for $1,800 - bought a 70 TA for $1,100 and sold it for $5,000 - bought a 70 Formula for $1,000 and parted it for over $2,500 (this was the 90's). I already had a 68 RA GTO I had bought before we got married but picked up a 72 WW5 GTO and still had money left over. I had all of this money for cars and she couldn't sell those stupid shoes she wore once for more money than she paid for them so where did that leave her? She was greedy and as her Father used to like to say, "More was never enough for my Mary." We divorced in 2000. Since then, I buy what I want, when I want both for business and for pleasure. Sandra, who I've been with for 13 years now doesn't care what I do as long as I'm happy.

I mean absolutely no disrespect, because I am confident in the fact that many of you have wisdom which far exceeds my years;
I have heard many times over that separate accounts lead to arguments which often only escalate. I realize that every relationship is unique, and I am glad that many of you have found what works for your relationship.

We do have a joint account which both of our paychecks go into. Mrs. Champ travels extensively for business (typically flies all over North America). She maintains a "travel account" that she has her expense checks sent too - and uses that account for all her business expenses. Other than that - we both see what the other is spending via the joint account. It's worked for over 45 years of wedded bliss... |
