Default After 16 years with FedEx Freight I am moving on

Kind of scary for me, but after 16 years at FedEx Freight/Viking Freight and 25 years in the freight industry I am moving to another company that I will be able to finally use my degree at. I am starting as a driver, but the room for advancement in my area is greater and I have an acquaintance that will help me. The new job also pays substantially better.

Wish me luck.

Robert

Best of luck Robert! That is a long time to be leaving an employer, hope your new venture works out

Thanks me too. I know as long as I stayed at FedEx Freight with the security as a driver I would not use my degree so this is kind of the jump I need to get a move on.

Thanks guys. Like I said it is pretty scary for me because all I have known since I was 15 is the freight business. Maybe I can use my head now instead of my back.

My buddy drives semi for FedEx. He is a little concerned about every driver having to be their own business, like a real company soon. Is that one of the reasons you left? Other than the pay. He has one of the best paying jobs around here of anyone I know. Glad you found something better. Jim

That might be the ground division or Custom Critical. They do not do that at Express and Freight. I left mainly because when my OT got cut I could make the jump without the loss of income. So far it has just worked out that I will be making what I used to make with OT.

Congrats and good luck to you. You have half the battle won already and that's having the balls to pull the trigger and take the chance to move forward.

Yeah, he drives for FedEx ground. Seems strange that express and freight would be different. Jim
