I used this on my Firebird with long tube headers and a Wix 51258 filter.
My car has an automatic though.

I had the factory oil filter plate and housing that tilted the filter from downward to the rear,
(closer to the firewall). probably very hard to find one those factory oil filter "clocking"
adaptors but it has worked very well for me over the years. Headers or Cast Iron 67 iron
Ram Air manifolds. The Butler RAR-OF2 is a very good recreation of the same factory parts
I own.

The Purolator Boss filter for our cars is tiny. It’s like an LS filter. I have the Rona right now but today or tomorrow I will get you the part number

wix 51042. short small dia. ran into that with my lakewood bellhousing and hedman hustlers yrs ago.....never forgot. Not promoting WIX but the numbers are easier...lol

The 51045 is the tall version...depends on your headers if you can get it OFF!

Did you get the one with built in by-pass and plug yours or get one without by-pass and kept the OEM one ?

I use a NAPA 1042 or Wix 51042 (same thing) on my 65 GTO with Lakewood bell housing and RA manifolds. They are about the diameter of the oil filter housing.

+2 for the Baldwin B-39 oil filter. It's shorter than most and full-flow without a check valve or bypass. It delivers the quickest response on your oil pressure gauge as well. I discovered them decades ago when Purolator quit making the shorter filter required to clear the Hedman headers on my Ventura's engine.

Before discovering the B-39 I tried several smaller filters often recommended on the Pontiac Forums and had issues with them. One actually failed inside some how and I lost oil pressure. Someone pointed me toward the Baldwin filter way back then and have been using them ever since on all Pontiac engines built here. I also block the bypass in the filter housing, but that's another topic that often gets varying info and opinions one way or the other.......

In talking to their tech people the flow rate is so much with their filter that they by pass in the filter or adapter have very little chance of ever opening.
I will probably get it without by pass and leave the stock one in just because thats what I have always done and had great luck with it. Its hard to change sometimes.
But I do not think it matters either way with their filter.
The extra screen is a nice tip, will do that.
