Contact Shaker455. He did mine and I was more than pleased. I thought I. Had it running pretty good using Cliffs book, but he caught many little details. Runs like fuel injection now. I will be doing a write up on what we did.

The Qjet we just received from Sean at SMI works flawless on the 461 we had him build it for, and looks brand new. Ray Klemm would be another great option, as he worked for Cliff Ruggles for several years building Qjets, now he is doing them on his own, very knowledgeable guy. Here are couple pictures of our SMI carb....

Another vote for Sean at SMI in Huntington Beach, CA. I got his Stage 2 850 cfm Q-Jet for my 69 400 Firebird. Still working great 3 years and 2500 miles later.

I agree. Found a 78 Pontiac Q-Jet at a local swap meet for $25, bought the Cliff book, ordered some parts from him and had a kick ass carb for under $200. Ran right with a 850 Holley back to back down to near 11 flat on my last 455.
For kicks I’d like to try it on the current set up but I don’t have room underhood for an adapter and air cleaner on the Northwind. Would be interesting to see how it would compare to a 4150 style on this application.
