1. Will an HEI clear an EP4B ? (64 Pontiac engine).
2. If it won't, will the small cap distributor allow enough mechanical/vacuum advance combined without slipping out of phase on a low compression engine tuned for city, highway or some spirited occasions.? I would prefer to run the HEI, but would like to know if it'll clear before I buy it. I've heard the old P4B's (65 and up) would not. But the EP4B is a lower profile manifold. Thanks in advance (pun intended). |

i have the square bore P4B Holley carb moroso air cleaner on 1969 #48 heads on a 350 block with HEI no problems
Do you have firewall clearance? It might not have much to do with manifold height but more to do with carb / runner placement front to rear or spreadbore vrs square Last edited by Formulas; 12-15-2021 at 06:33 PM. |

There are a few different versions of the P4B. The square bore P4B that Formulas mentions looks pretty much exactly like a factory iron manifold except its for square bore carbs. HEI will fit these. Some of the other ones have very wide ports that will interfere with an HEI.
Post a pick of your manifold and I can tell you right away if an HEI will fit.

That's the wide port version. An HEI wont fit.
